MOBILE EXPLOITATION
(An Act of Terrorism)
The Introduction of mobile
Telecommunication networks in Nigeria
has not left anything short of unnecessary
misfortunes like exploitation, fraud etc.
I will like to explain the cause of these
unnecessary misfortunes of mobile
communication as necessitated by
exploitative act of mobile operators. You
see messages like Text WIN to 555 and
qualify for a million Naira tonight. Text Go
to 2010 Now, Text WIN to 222
Many customers see these messages as
an invitation to earn quick money as
promised by these mobile operators.
Eventually over 98% of trials by
customers are without any reward as they
have their hard earned money disappear
like a mist in the air> this mobile
operators then come out with
unidentified elements they called winners
who posed as if they actually won. Even if
they won you can easily calculate the
amount of profits this network have gain
by seductively enticing the poor masses
to part with their money with the
promise to reward them massively.
I couldn’t still imagine the reason for this
exploitative practice ,is it a form of
competitive {marketing} strategy or a
means to get fund for operation. If at all
these mobile networks want to reward
their customers there are more than a
thousand way to do this without
unnecessarily exploiting the customers
This wicked act must be stopped by the
appropriate authorities as this may dim
the trust we have in these networks.
Every network in Nigeria is guilty of this,
as they have at one time or the other act
in this manner.
We all cry out against Terrorism. What
else is a form of terrorism if not the act of
exploiting people who lives from hand to
mouth .It is amazing that we conceive
terrorism from a complex point of view
instead of looking inward into our selves
to judge every evil, greed, gluttony and
wickedness resident in our soul.
The appropriate way to conduct any
mobile lottery is to attach a particular gift
to a certain number of SMS sent. With
this method everyone will know if he or
she could afford to play the game and
people will be assured of a gift after
playing the game. Mobile Lottery should
not be by luck but by work (Prizes should
be earned),because of the exploitative
nature of the game.
If you say that Playing the game is not by
force then sending unsolicited SMS to
customers should not be without the
consent of the customers. Being a mobile
operator shouldn’t pave way for intrusion
to customers privacy. STOP THIS ACT!!!MOBILE EXPLOITATION
