Here are some facts you must know about the genesis and the ongoing crisis in Syria. This worn torn nation has gradually graduated from a simple peaceful movement to a full scale war which seems to the pulling world powers into making a decision to avoid the risk of a full scale middle eastern war.

1. The Syrian uprising was initially peaceful and started as a simple demonstration , it wasn't too long before a matured war broke out.

2. It is highly believed that some factions of the rebels have close relationship with Al-Qaeda terrorist group

3.Civilians took up arms against the Government

4. Some Syrian top officials defected to the rebel faction

5.Western powers are very reluctant to help in the war over fears that their weaponry would fall into wrong hand like terrorist groups. Russian President Vladimir Putin is not a fan of arming these rebels and has deeply expressed his fears over western sophisticated weapons falling into the hands of wrong factions.

6. The Rebel group is called the Free Syrian Army

7. The are too many separate Militia factions in Syria. The Rebels do not operate on a central command. Efforts to centralize and unite these rebels have failed.

8. The driving factor that motivates the rebels is Islam. Their core belief for fighting the government solely rests upon their religion.

9. President Bashar Al-Assad would rather die than hand over power , or go on exile.

10. There are alot of Foreign fighters in Syria numbering from 2000- 5000 and not just the Syrian born fighters. Not all this non- citizens fight against the government of Syria. Hezbollah fights for Assad's regime.

11. It is estimated that rebel fighters number between 70,000 to 80,000. Syrian rebels have also been accused of inhuman abuses and also use of Chemical weapons.

12. The United States Promised weapons to the Syrian rebels in small arms variety but the rebels claim that they have still not received such weapon aid from USA

13. Estimated number of deaths since the start of the Syrian conflict: 100,000 and still counting according to the New York Times
