Amaechi Proceeds On Leave? SSG May Take Over Power. by RICHIEBOI1(m): 8:20pm On Sep 27, 2013
According to reports reaching CityNews, Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is said to have jetted out of the country on a three-month vacation. The governor was last seen by several close aides, Monday September 23rd, 2013.

There are divergent views as to why the governor would choose this period of crisis to embark on vacation, and an elongated one for that matter.

Some have attributed it to the upcoming October 3rd Supreme Court ruling in the case between the Governor and his predecessor, Sir Celestine Omehia.

It would be recalled that moves by the governor to convince Omehia earlier in the year to withdraw his application at the apex court, for possible out-of-court settlement proved abortive as the latter insisted on justice taking its full course in the matter.

By hierarchy, Deputy Governor, Tele Ikuru is meant to take over in the absence of the Governor, but reliable sources report that the State’s number two citizen may equally proceed on vacation, beginning from October 1st, 2013 though the duration could not be confirmed as at press time.

It is believed the governor approved his deputy’s leave before embarking on his own.

Should the reports be true, it would give some credence to rumors that both leaders want to be as far away as possible from the state due to the uncertainty surrounding the Supreme Court case.

In their absence, it appears that Secretary to State Government, George Feyii would be in charge, as Pro-Amaechi House of Assembly Speaker, Otelemaba Amachree is still on the run, following his differences with the Police.

When they want to cheat the people, they use judges. They tried all avenues nothing worked but judges, being hopeless set of human beings, will be used to destabilize the state.

If I happen to rule this country, I will first deal with the judges and all those crooks in the legal profession - most of them are worse than the people they jail or sentence to death.

This behaviour is typical of Amaechi's western colleagues. Indoctrination by long term hobnobbing.

Sick of awful garbage journalism. Anyone with half a brain would know that the journalist who wrote this manufactured hogwash is not knowledgeable. If the Governor and Deputy Governor decides to proceed on leave and the state house of assembly isn't sitting, the next in line to take over the administration of the State should be the Chief Judge of the State and not the SSG.

Why should Amaechi run into hiding when he was the one who filed the appeal before the supreme court seeking to quash a Court of Appeal ruling which gave Omehia of APGA in the 2011 election, 'the right to challenge a judgment' of the Federal High Court which declared that Amaechi's tenure ended on 29th May 2011. If the Supreme Court rules against Amaechi, the case will most likely be returned to the Court of Appeal than removing him as governor.

It was the Supreme Court who ruled that it was the party that contested the 2007 guber election. And the party was sworn-in on May 29
through Omehia. I do not see the Supreme Court reviewing its judgment considering the very tense political atmosphere.

What happens to his NGF faction if the court case goes against him? Will the other governors in his camp fall in line to jang or they will nominate another leader from their camp. Nigeria has gone to the dogs and I don't think remedy is in sight.

What if goodluck stop him from leaving the country, if actually he is behind all that is happening in rivers state and influence the court case which is normal in Nigeria.

This is not beer parlour gossip bro. Open your eyes. Maybe the journalist got it wrong on who should take over, but Amaechi has truly proceeded on vacation according to news coming from PH, not just this journalist.

According to news coming from the beer parlour in your neighborhood. Is the news official? There is no way the governor and his deputy will proceed on leave without formally handing over to the next in line, and such information will be made known to the public. The Governor may have traveled out of the country either for personal reasons or to attend an official engagement but the story of 'leave of 3months' is false.

The APGA/Rochas case was stalled cos we didnt wanna use Amaechi/Omehia as case study in any court, Amaechi will certainly lose against Omehia because he disrespected the PDP national leadership. Losing the Governorship means losing immunity and refunding over 3 trillion he has embezzled from the State through his surrogates and even Jerry Rawlings of Ghana who he invest his loots through.

Amaechi better go to holiday in Afghanistan cos if he venture stays in USA or UK in the next 2 months, he will be another Ibori.

Here is a different view...

Amaechi not on leave

Against gossip and hearsay by those antagonistic of the Administration of Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State that he is on leave preparatory to escaping from the country over his “imminent sack” via an upcoming October 3, 2013 Supreme Court sitting that will make certain constitutional declarations on the April 2011 gubernatorial election in Rivers State, The Neighbourhood can authoritatively report that Amaechi is overseas on official duties. First, the Rivers State governor will be unveiling festivities towards the kick-off of events towards the UNESCO Port Harcourt World Book Capital 2014 and later will be given a prestigious African Leadership Award by an African-American organisation based in the United States of America, USA. The award had been bestowed only on past African leaders considered to have rendered meritorious service to their respective nations.

Our reporter gathered that Amaechi was initially hesitant in acceptance of the African Leadership Award. However, the USA-based group, in its choice of the governor cited his “revolutionary” attitude to governance in selecting him for the honour.

Speaking to The Neighbourhood on the telephone, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication, debunked the rumours of the governor’s leave. “Before the governor would proceed on leave, would he not communicate officially the State House of Assembly which functions are being overseen by the National Assembly? I can tell you that there was no such communication. Governor Amaechi is out of the country to perform the unveiling of the UNESCO Port Harcourt World Book Capital 2014, and will later be honoured with the African Leadership Award.”

The commissioner’s position was much collaborated by George Ukwuoma-Nwogba, the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by Godspower Ake. Ukwuoma-Nwogba told our reporter Thursday night that Governor Amaechi was not on leave but out of the country on state duty. “The governor travelled to perform activities related with the UNESCO Port Harcourt World Book Capital 2014.”

Nigeria’s apex court will on the October 3 rule on certain constitutional matters raised by Sir Celestine Omehia over the 2011 governorship election in Rivers State. The Supreme Court may return the matter to the Appeal Court for “proper adjudication”, our reporter who spoke with a senior legal counsel to one of the parties in the matter learnt.

In the meantime, anti-Amaechi folks doing political business in Abuja but natives of Rivers State and their partners resident in Port Harcourt have been drinking themselves stupor in post-dated celebration of the "imminent exit" of Amaechi via the Supreme Court.

Na only partisan glasses, you go see partisan binoculars. Kindly name the Governors who proceeded on leave without any information? Chime, we were told handed over to his deputy. Suntai had a fatal accident and there was no way he could hand over, moreover, these two went on medical leave.

Look, I am just pointing to you that your argument is lame. You could put up other arguments, but this route you took is lame. If truly he is absconding, then he will certainly not hand over to any one just like Sylva did 2 days before he got kicked out. He proceeded on leave without telling anyone and kept talking from an unknown destination. I havent concluded that Amaechi has asconded, but I do have confirmation that he has proceeded on vacation and yes, it is very abnormal for him to proceed on any sort of vacation at this time because his house is on fire. It certainly doesnt make any sense. But I will not categorically say he has absconded until we get some confirmation on that.

Kairoseki77: The judicial system in this country is dead.

Whatever judgement they come up with will be manipulated by bribes.

If you follow the case properly, you will understand it doesnt look good for Amaechi. That is why a lot of people in Rivers are surprised about the way he has been conducting himself. He has only been able to stay in power because of the party, not his personal ability. His emergence as gov was based on the victory of the party, not Amaechi. So to try and surbvert the party is a very bad decision. Rivers state is not Lagos state.

1. The people will never join Amaechi to betray GEJ. If you think that will happen, you delude yourself. Even if GEJ is the worst president ever, that will still not happen.

2. All the major political stake holders in Rivers are in PDP and that is not going to change anytime soon.

3. Amaechi has never been a mender of bridges. He has been so arrogant and become enemy of the masses. Forget what any APC propaganda folks try to spin here. The reality on the ground is that Amaechi is fighting with almost everyone. He is only trying to make it look like it is GEJ that he is fighting with, just to gain some sympathy. The truth about the house of assembly story is that, Amaechi would have been impeached by the house. All those stories of 5 against 27 is false rumour peddled by Amaechi. The majority of the house are ready to impeach him. If the house dares resume now, they will impeach him. That is why he used Tambuwal to get the NASS to take over the house functions. If he trusts himself as having full control of the majority of the house, he should have been confident to allow the house resume normal sitting. But he knows what will happen to him if they resume fully
