The Boko Haram terrorists who massacred more than 40 students in a Nigerian college dormitory were in military uniforms and were mistaken at first for soldiers, survivors have revealed.

When men in soldiers' uniform arrived at the agricultural college in northern Nigeria, Musa Bade, a teacher, was relieved.

The previous week a school 10 miles away in Buni Yadi had been attacked, with three dead, and Mr Bade supposed that now, at last, protection had arrived. We must all be security concious in this country. Something happened not far away from you and no one thought it could be their turn. Not the lecturers, not the school authorities, not the stusdents and not even the security agents in that locality. Too poor. RIP to the dead
