Independence Day special:
Miss Nigeria turns traffic
warden on october 04, 2013 at 12:10
am in entertainment By Opeoluwani Ogunjimi Who would have expected an
alluring damsel, especially a
beauty queen to take on a toga
of a ‘traffic warden’ on a
special day as the
Independence Day? This was exactly what reigning Miss
Nigeria 2013, Ezinne Akudo
chose to do to celebrate the
53rd Independence anniversary
of the country. Draped in jean pants and a
white T-shirt, underneath the
orange and lemon ‘Traffic
Wardens’ apron, she took her
stand at the T-junction of
Adeola Odeku,Victoria Island, directing traffic. *Ezinne According to her, choosing to
control the traffic was a way of
giving back to the society, in
view of the fact that traffic
remains one of the major
problems Nigerians still face at 53. Explaining that the gesture
was not a one-off thing she
said she would continue on
10th of October with a car
wash phase, where she would
be on ground to wash cars for those who wish to patronise
her and use the proceed
thereof to support her pet
project known as ‘Serve
Nigeria’. According to her, project ‘Serve
Nigeria’ is her own way of
combating sexual harassment
in the society and the mission
only became a passion for her
after a friend of hers fell victim to rapists last year. On ground to make sure she
had a hitch free day as a traffic
warden were the Divisional
Police Officer, DPO, Bar Beach
Police Station, Mr. Fayoade
Adegoke and two policewomen, Inspector Morayo
and Corporal Abiola Khadijah.
