The latest Google update carried out yesterday have affected a lot of search query site, to the extent some sites that were our competitors on SERPs are now slapped so hard that they no longer rank for any keyword and they have been taken off from search engine radar.
Most noticeable is "seo consulting" "affordable seo packages" etc, some of the sites that we still see that rank are basically sites that have more to do with press releases and some other link juice.
We have blatantly stated that working only on SEO for web traffic is always a bad idea, that is why we focus totally on developing strategies that will yield sustainable traffic.

It is quite funny that I wrote something about this, early yesterday, stating that webmasters should not rely on Google anymore.
Just suddenly have seen a huge remarkable changes in their search engine rankings.
All the top sites for some keywords have been drastically slapped out of the sit they once occupied...having a better alternative choice for traffic apart from Google is definitely the future, because they are always tweaking, and most of us do get burnt out of this ideology, they say they want their search result to get better, this why they always tweak their algorithms...I think this is all to say how they want us to always be playing this Game of theirs...have never heard of issues from Bing or Yahoo (May be because they are regarded as the minority).
The best a webmaster can do is to help itself device strategies that shames Google in traffic, that way you will not even fill it if eventually your site gets hit or not, intentionally or not...YOU WOULDN'T NEED GOOGLE
