Nigeria leaders would always wait for hundred of pple to die before implementing some policy. Now,is there any technology that confirm if a boat is either new or old? National Boat Monitoring Agency should be created abi I lie?

This man just demonstrated that to him Boko is haram. What does he mean by old boat?

A 1 yr old boat is an old boat and so is a 30 yr old boat. Shouldn't he be specific on the age limit?

Ban, ban, ban...still doesn't solve half the problem and is counterproductive in the final analysis.

That decision is even impractical. the areas river niger passes in niger state are rural areas that are atleast 4 or 5 hours away from minna.
no govt official goes to those places.
and the local govt chairmen of all the local govts in niger state all live in minna and govern the local govts from minna. go to their local govt headquarters once in a month to share allocation.
so who is going the implement the ban?

God bless you brother. My sincere condolence to the bereaved families. I think Gov. Aliyu should concentrate on his responsibilities in providing basic amenities to his people. He can provide functional jetties and even pontoons for safe navigation of the river. Niger state is becoming synonymous with boat mishap in recent times. He must not wait till GEJ rescinds his decision to contest the presidency in 2015 before he can tackle domestic problems facing him in the home front. His quest for power at the highest level is beclouding his sense of responsibility to his people. It is not enough to outlaw old boats, provide new and better alternatives. When the old boats will set sail, you will not know but when something goes wrong (God forbid), you will hear.
