Aregbesola Increases Lautech’s Funding From N1.6bn To N6bn by Ayekotoo(m): 11:08pm On Oct 07, 2013
OSUN State governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, has increased funding to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, from N1.6billion to over N6billion, an increment of 375%, to ensure that the hospital matches up with the standard of its counterparts in the global community, the state Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Wale Bolorunduro, has said.

In a statement issued by the commissioner, on Sunday, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune, he said through the increased funding, the hospital has consequently developed an operational drug manufacturing plant; a dental department as well as its own oxygen plant.
Bolorunduro hinted that the hospital had passed all the necessary accreditation tests, which.culminated in its award as one of the best teaching hospitals in West Africa.

While observing that there had been an.improvement in the working relationship with.staff of the hospital, Bolorunduro assured that LAUTECH would continue to receive remarkable support from the current administration in the state.
The commissioner hinted that while the erstwhile government of the PDP gave a total sum of N1billion to the hospital for capital developments and accreditations in seven and half years, Aregbesola had given N2billion to the hospital within the three years of the incumbent administration.

He said further that there had been significant increase in the subventions to the hospital to take care of the salaries, running costs, maintenance, stressing that Aregbesola had shown more commitment and passion in spreading the thin earnings of the state to cover such significant mileage.

After 8yrs under Aregbesola, Osun State will be one of Nigeria’s leading economies at this rate

He is also building capacity for the future by investing strategically in education. The Opon Imo is still an idea that I marvel at till this day and will eventually impact on the quality of knowledge the students get on the long run

At the moment it has the fourth highest IGR in the country, the lowest unemployment rate, one of the lowest crime rates, the lowest poverty rate and the fourth highest GDP in southern Nigeria for 2012, behind Lagos, Rivers and Oyo
