I have wached and even practiced the use of chain lintels in building construction, but lately have done some research and found it could be jettisoned.
in constructing framed buildings we dont see the application of chain lintel, but rather the openings are just covered.
I would like professional contributions

Why we builders use the chained lintel is because of the quality of naija blocks,I personally can't raise blocks anything more than about 2metres(8-9 lines),this technique is useful for load-bearing walls, the blocks unless self-moulded lack integrity

‎yes your right, but the load from the slab is supported by the columns ,as in the case of a simply (continuous)supported beam....so the extra blocks are more less filling up space so you get a higher decking(abt 3metres)

Nedu2000 have u watched closely Framed buildings construction we don't even see beams below the deck and they are mostly highrise buildings. At lintel d opening is covered and partition walls are left without lintel entirely

You know partitions are not exposed to lateral(wind) forces ,so are fairly stable, but also note that external walls (b4 d lintel)are meant to be loading-bearing,unlike framed ones.....but in framed structures, its dependent on the span and type of slab
