What is evidently clear and agreed by all is the non-issue or cause that Boko Haram sect is claiming to fight for. Initially, their cause, as claimed, was against western education. The group launched it's campaign of terror during the administration of late President Yaradua. The sect beared striking similarities with the Maitatsine sect that plagued Northern Nigeria in the early 80's. On paper this similarities are mere coincidental and expected in a region were religious extremist and secular riots are frequent but if we look into the diplomatic scene of the 80's and of the summer of 2009 we are confronted with a much bigger and larger scale. In the 80's, Nigeria nearly went to war with Cameroun over the Bakassi Peninsula. In 2009, the Yaradua administration was seriously re-considering accepting the ICJ ruling on Bakassi and other territorial disputes with Cameroon including border areas within the Chad Basin. to be contd... |

So why is it that at the height of a major diplomatic row with Cameroon, Nigeria experienced a major insurgency originating from the same north eastern parts? Co-incidence or diversionary conspiracy? |

Who armed the Maitatsine sect and who continues to fund and arm the Boko Haram insurgency? The main suspect appears to be France. There is oil in the Chad Basin and there is on-going exploration and drilling on the Nigerien and Cameroonian side but we have not heard of Boko Haram striking at these western infrastructures. So why? Because there are some very powerful northern Nigerian individuals who own and operate these wells. One of these individuals is IBB. The insurgency has depopulated large swaths of land and the oil coys are moving in on these deserted areas. |

OBJ's betrayal and Malabu Deal Reward OBJ was dangled a juicy share of the off-shore Malabu deep sea well as a reward to accepting the ICJ ruling on Bakassi. The oil wells are located within Nigerians territorial waters but a deal was struck with Sao-Tome to have berthing access for the crude. In a nut shell, OBJ sold a part of Nigeria and stole offshore oil wells that he now shares with another country. |
