Cultists Hold ‘security Summit’ In Edo by GreenBobo: 7:02am On Oct 14, 2013
BY SIMON EBEGBULEM
BENIN — Against the background of
incessant kidnappings and other violent
crimes in Edo State, members of various
cult groups in the state came together in
Benin, weekend, in a move they said was
to tackle insecurity in the state.
However, the cult groups during their
summit with the theme Interactive
Peace Summit: Strategy for Social
Cohesion, which held at the Sand Beach
Resorts, Benin, expressed dissatisfaction
with threats posed to Edo and other
neighboring states due to the activities of
kidnappers, armed robbery gangs and
other criminal activities. They resolved to
tackle them.
Represented
Some of the cult groups represented by
at the summit included Green Circuit
( Maphites ), Norsemen ( Vikings), Black
Axe, Eiye Confraternity, Family Fraternity
of Nigeria and Avarian Organisation of
Nigeria.
Also in attendance were representatives
of Governor Adams Oshiomhole; the
Iyase (traditional Prime Minister) of
BeninKingdom, Chief Sam Igbe;
representatives of the Edo State
Commissioner of Police and that of AIG
Zone 5 Benin and representatives of the
Director, Department of State Services.
Others were representatives of the
Commandant of Civil Defence and
Security Corps, Edo State Neighbourhood
Watch Council and the OC, SIB, AIG Zone
5.
Chairman of the Consolidated Forum,
Donald Edeo-ghon, while acknowledging
the damage done by activities of the
group, however expressed hope that the
coalition of the groups would help in
checking crime in the state.
He said: “If you remember, for over two
decades, inter-group conflicts, which
often resulted in violent and fatal crises,
were the attributes of EdoState
communities.
“Innocent lives and property of
inestimable worth are destroyed on a
whim.
“Armed robbery, kidnapping, thuggery and
sundry social vices rose to unprecedented
levels; it became dangerous to reside and
function legitimately in EdoState and in
particular, Benin.
“The situation looked bad, but then came
the platform of Rainbow Consolidated
Forum with a template for all seasons.”
Chief Igbe expressed joy at what he
witnessed and called on the groups not to
disappoint, saying “you know I am going
to brief the Oba on what I have
witnessed here today.”

This is definitely a bad development. So cultism is officially recognized in Edo State? What happens to the security forces? Ain't they working in Edo State any longer? Or they are now part of the intervention group formed by the cult leaders? This doesn't make sense at all. This is simply like asking for a favour from the devil. He'll so grant you but you wait and hear his own demands for reward then tell him you won't grant them! Very soon, the government of Edo State would be hijacked by this cult boys. Because their success to bench the security forces is to take control of the state. And in the near future, if you don't belong to a cult group, nothing for you in government. I condemn this development in totality. The security forces should rise to their responsibilities.

This is what am saying. You don't try this especially as a government. The whole issue would be complicated at the end.

This is so funny. cheesy. Only in Nigeria where any sh*t goes.

And they failed to realise that most of the robberies, kidnapping and other vices were/are being carried out by these cultists...

People who always see their rivals as potential threats. People who believe in violence.

Need I say more about various killings on campuses across the nation? The Lagos, Calabar, Enugu, Awka-Ibom. Epkoma etc.

Recently, I read about some group of cult boys that were caught in Kogi east with a snatched car...

People who drinks and do drugs...

I'm so sure that they will soon start to ask for amnesty.

I'm not surprised though, cos even the previous saga involving the Rivers house of assembly was backed up with cult activities.
Obviously, some of these so called sh*ts we've got as political leaders are cultists and use cultists to commit crimes like ballot box snatching, assassinations etc.

Such a huge shame.

This is a very bad move, ain't gonna work one bit. Well, if police and other security egancies have been up to the task, this would not have happened.
