Osun Re-classification Of School: Ipad Equivalent Given To Students. by DoubleFaith(m): 10:34am On Oct 14, 2013
The deputy Governor of Osun State who is also the commissioner of education of the State spoke on the re-classification of schools on STV.
On the issue of Mixed Baptist Schools, she said the government cannot afford the luxury of keeping girls alone. That Govt schools henceforth will be mixed. That even the baptist school started the policy themselves. That Baptist high school Iwo was originally purely boys school but they mixed it. They brought in girls and removed boys. They called it Baptist High school. In Ire, it's thesame thing, Ifa and all over the state. In Osogbo, there are so many baptist private school that are mixed which originally were single sex school. That she is also a christian and understands every christian legacy.
She said they are on a mission to improve the schools which virtually have nothing. She said no teacher will loose his or her job instead they will recruit more teachers. They have drastically reduce the teacher student ratio. They met situation where in a school they have 120 students to one teacher and have reduce that to 40 in some cases which is not even what the Gov wants. He wants them to ensure that they dont hit 40. The Gov objective is to reduce drastically the teachers student ratio.
She said for every aggrieved groups, there is nothing that works like dialogue, that they are open to talk to people, they are never tired of letting people know what they are doing and how they are doing it. As a matter of fact the whole state are fully in support of them.
Students have been given a powerful education tool called Okpo Iwo which is very similar to the ipad. The difference basically is that it doesnt come with the internet. That they have to remove the internet so that the student dont go to the wrong site. It has basically 3 platforms. The 1st is the e-library which has 53 books which are text books recomended by the federal government. Every student in the high school is entitle to the powerful educational tool free of charge at no cost at all. It will also be given to the teachers.
It also has the virtual classroom where all the lesson notes that have been prepared by the class teachers are embedded in the tool. It has 40 thousand past questions in JAMB, WAEC and guided answers. Apart from that, the bible is there, the Quran is there and also games like chess and sodoku. They want Osun state student to be the best in Nigeria.
