Young Academics declare that they are no longer interested in pro-longed ASUU strike

A group known as Young Academics and Researchers have declared that lecturers across the universities in the country are tired of the on-going strike, saying that most of them are keen to resume teaching.

The young lecturers who addressed journalists in Abuja on Monday stated that the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has made its point and there is the need for the universities to start running.

Leader of the Young Academics and Researchers, Abiodun Okunowo said that they had to break the silence as the nation is suffering the action of the ASUU leadership.
He argued that all lecturers at the close of the strike would still receive their salaries for the period of the strike, while the university system would suffer from the months of the strike.
Also on Wednesday, Nigerian Market Women Association protested the current strike on the streets of Abuja.
The women declared a two-week ultimatum for ASUU to resume work or face the wrath of Nigerian women.
Their ultimatum was announced by Chief (Mrs.) Felicia Sani, President of the Nigerian Market Women Association.
