BekeeBuAgbara: While it's easy to tell princess Stella Odua to resign, I wonder why no one is calling for NCAA D.G, captain Fola Akinkuotu's head, the man who purchased the cars.

Didn't you read that the approval came from the acting DG of NCAA at that time Mr. J. D. Nkemakolam.

So as you wonder, why hasn't he who purchased the cars been arrested?

However, I realise that it's the minister that supervises the agencies under her and not vice versa. Hence she is the prime culprit, Mr. J. D. Nkemakolam was only following orders.

I would like to put it into perspective for you. The purchase of the vehicle is not what disturbs me but the lunacy in their boldness to inflate the price so grossly and make no attempts to hide that fact. The president of the united states is considered the most powerful man alive and thus his safety is paramount.

The "beast" which Obama uses cost $300,000 each,Which would relate to half the price of each of the BMW.

gregg2: Liar!!! Demdem Liar!!! Who told you the vehicles are lying at the minister's house in Lekki? Read the last paragraph of what I culled from PUNCH.

1) But the NCAA boss stated that the purchase of the vehicles followed stipulated  due  process, adding that the prices of the cars were high probably because it was bought from a company which had no competitors in Nigeria.

2) The agency also said other factors might  have contributed  the high price, but maintained that the vehicles were purchased for operational purposes. Explaining what may have made the vehicles expensive in Nigeria, Akinkuotu said three factors should be considered.

3) He said, “First, each car that you buy nowadays has a customised aspect to it and this may impact on the price. The other factor is what I call the environmental situation. Yesterday, a gentleman from Britain met me and said the fares in this country on British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are high. And he wondered why the situation had continued, but he said it was because Nigerians could  afford it.

4) “So the other aspect in this particular context is what I will call the monopolistic situation on these cars. Coscharis, as far as I understand, is about the only guy that sells BMW of this nature in Nigeria. If he is the only one selling, then you must buy from him if you want the car and he can name the price. So those are factors that may have resulted. But mind you, I am not holding brief for this.”

5) He went on, “I do not know how much the cars cost and I cannot relate or answer the question on the actual cost of these cars. But were they budgeted for? Yes.”

6) The DG said aviation was a global industry and the NCAA, the regulator of the industry in Nigeria very often played host to dignitaries from international civil aviation bodies.

7) He said it was internationally customary to convey the minister and these visiting foreign dignitaries in security vehicles whenever they are in Nigeria.

cool He said, “It must be noted that during such visitations, the security of members of the delegation is the sole responsibility of the host country. The vehicles are therefore in the pool of the NCAA for these special assignments and are available at the NCAA office and can be shown to you.”

He is only trying to cover for his predecessor, who was also trying to ensure his hard working sister ministered in comfort and safety against the other tribes of Nigeria who wanted to pull down their shining light grin.

Very tribal bad belle people. The truth among our opposition elements is that they want FG to fail. They feel the woman is transforming the aviation sector and this is uplifting the image of the FG and so should be pulled down. Those guys coordinated by Thief Tinubu and that Boko Haram mentor do not care about the progress of this country but their selfish interest of getting to Aso Rock

While we are talking of something that bordered on national embarrassment to say the least, an alledged fraud, all the two of you can see are the opposition's hand at work and tribal sentiments. And this are supposedly educated people.

Anyway, I don't blame your likes, it is the type of system we run that throws your likes up. so, what else does one expect? My greatest grouse and concern is the type of children you both will bequeath to this country when you are gone. It will be pathetic for the next generation of your family members and villages if your children pick up this kind of trait or habit from either of you, reason is because I know we wont continue like this, so this type of reasoning will not have a place anymore in our society by that time, and your offsprings may not fit in afterall.

FACT 1: The vehicles were budgeted for.
FACT 2: Due process was followed.

For those of you who keep peddling lies that the BMW vehicles cost $200,000.00 kindly note that BMW only advertises the price of used security vehicles on its website. The used 2006 version cost $240,000.00 or €175,000.00. Check the link below yourself.

Here is the link http://www.bmw-security-vehicles.com/security_vehicles/en/_teaserpool_2010/download/shared/pdf/offer_7series_2006.pdf at €175,000 Euros, which is $240,000.00

If the used vehicle cost $240,000.00 dollars, how can Sahara and Dino Melaya claim the new vehicles can be bought for $200,000.00

Or let me guess, they could not decipher the difference between a used car and new vehicle.
Stop peddling lies that you cannot substantiate!

lol @Nigerians.

Lets cross our hands until these beasts eat up our future and our children's future like cankerworms.

225Million ? shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Obama's Cadillac One costs $300,000 so need I say that the cost of the 2 cars are grossly overstated.

No wonder blood keep flowing in the industry and nobody is complaining or resigning.

At this time of Global Meltdown ?
At this period when over 72,000 new graduates join the millions already jobless ?
At this period when Finance Minister claimed we are spending judiciously ?
At this period where people die on the queue protesting non payment of pension ?

The money is our blood . We paid the taxes, we have equal rights to the natural resources. We fly and pay more tax than the actual flight cost.

They use our hard earned taxes to live a reckless life and advise us to abandon our car and join BRT to go to the office to earn our legitimate penny.

unfortunately, no hope again cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry

God will judge them from this generation to many generations to come.

It looks as if that was the greatest need of the aviation industry on their scale of preference. So what do we say on the first report, that talks about threat to the life of the minister. BIG LIE TO COVER BIG MESS.

What was the share of the senate committee on aviation? Did they not carry out oversight function? Bad leadership, does other west African countries do the same for the foreign aviation agencies?

Where is EFCC in all of these, especially on the allegation that the cost is heavily padded?. Heard EFCC is so broke it cannot do anything. Otherwise, all the funny characters issuing conflicting press releases will be in cell to tell us all they know about the senseless procurement. Imagine the theatre of the absurd: 1st, an outright denial by the Ministry, next - an admission by the Ministry premised on "real threats to the life of Madam Minister" and now, a modification of the admission - this time, by NCAA that the vehicles were procured for operational use. Who is fooling who?. I pity Nigeria!.
Re: NCAA Bought N225m Cars For Operations by Nobody: 11:24am On Oct 19, 2013
And in fact this is my prblem with Nigeria and Nigerians. Just too triabalistic. Whether she is Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Edo, fulani etc nothing changes the fact that she spent close to 500 million Naira to buy two amoured vehicles for herself. Whether it was bought for her or bought by the past aviation minister is inconsequential. She is the one being carried in it. And whether she is building a new airport in Enugu or not doesnt mean she should misappropriate any funds. In fact in reality she is not building any airport as the airport is the right of citizens in a commercial hub like Enugu.

So you see that the common man's security isnt that important. After all ministers ride in amoured SUVs to protect themselves. Senators soon to follow. Must governors already have one. Yet the police is ill-equipped, unemployment is on the rise and students in tertiary institutions (institutions producing many half-baked) are on strike for over 3 months. Yet they tell us the country is broke and the Minister of Aviation is riding in two amoured vehicles. Wow!!!

This country is heading for implosion. Slowly, steadily, gradually.
