Nairaland has quite a number of intellectual content generated by its members from storiesin different genres, to poems, to music, to diaries and essays, and maybe even artwork et al There is a fairly rich souce of content which satisfies the needs of many members. But given the troubles such as the one Mazi Omenuko faced where his stories were illegally copied there is need to be proactive in protecting a work. However, I'm not looking to the Nigerian Copyright Act which in fact allows for free use of a work for non-commercial purpose and doesn't compulse for registration of a work for it to be copyrighted. I am looking at the Creative Commons License. Creative Commons allows you to better control how your work is shared over the Internet. If you want your work used anyhow, even commercially, get it so you can better track how it's used. Choose out of a list of licenses. Once you've seen a license you like go to THIS PAGE and fill in the form as to how ypu would like the work to be used and submit it. Attach the image and commons deed as seen below

Please someone here should suggest how the code in the OP can be tweaked so people can anchor the lcense on this site. BTW, Nigeria is in the progress of accepting the license. With this Creative Commons license can be accepted in the Nigerian courts as a valid means of copyright (or copyleft in this case) protection. Note that Creative Commons is especially for those who are making their work free and want to exert some measure of control over freedom on how the work is used.

Me sef dey fear post some of my works or those I intend to write. I have started with poems but not posted my essays, I'm sketching some stories. In any case, I would be at ease once I know my works are legally protected.
