Abuja – Borno State Deputy Governor, Zannah
Mustapha, pledged his administration would
compensate victims of the ongoing terror attacks
blamed on the notorious Boko Haram sect.
“That is why I am here standing in place of our governor
because he would have been here but for the fact that
he is attending to some needs of the state outside the
country. Government is going to get the lists of houses
burnt, shops destroyed, lives taken and also attend to
the wounded as it has been doing in other places
affected by the same problem,” The deputy governor,
said in Kawuri District, where he sympathized with
locals following the recent attacks by terrorists.
Ten people were killed recently during an onslaught in
the village, the latest in a series of such attacks in
villages in Borno.
He called on villagers to complement government
efforts to enhance security in the region.
“The task of protecting lives and property of the state is
first and foremost that of the people. People in the state
should do everything to protect themselves especially
from the outlawed Boko Haram sect” said Mustapha,
who nonetheless added that government was not
shelving its responsibility of protecting the lives and
property of citizens.
He said the government and its agencies needed
information and support from the people to adequately
combat crime and insurgency, which have been on an
increase in the state over the last four years.
“The Boko Haram elements do not respect human life.
As such, there should not be any reservation about
them. When they started in Maiduguri, many took the
issue lightly until they started killing clerics, innocent
civilians and even the people they called their own
people.”
Meanwhile, the deputy governor donated two vehicles
to the youth volunteer group to enhance efforts to
combat terror.

It'd be great if the gov explains succinctly, how he has been spending the huge security votes he's been getting for yrs.
