Well, that's how life is I guess. If a company wants to recruit 2 people and out of 15 interviewed, 10 ace the process. Will u call dropping 8 people out of the 10 wicked? They have a certain no they want, more than that no passed the preset cutoff, then they have to have their ways and criteria to make their final selection.

I do not doubt you when you said they will still send more regret mails but I still think it is not fair to still drop someone that has come this far. To get to this stage you must have proven your competence in every areas you were accessed. Maybe I'm being too emotional about this after all we all know life isn't fair. They reserve the right to even cancel the recruitment outright. Though I feel its not just about what they can or cannot do but what they will do(because what you do defines who you are). In the end fate wins.

Well we wait!

This interesting prayer was given in Kansas, USA, at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open
the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says: “Woe to those who call evil good”, but that is exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it Pluralism.
We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.
We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have embezzled public funds and called it essential expenses.
We have insitutionalised bribery and called it sweets of office.
We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh GOD, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.

Amen!”

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in
protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa and Korea.

With the LORD’S help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called “ONE NATION UNDER GOD.

Culled from a message from a colleague

Happy New Month.

It's best if you guys keep an open mind still. As far as I'm concerned, NLNG didn't do anybody anybody any good by sending out "recruitment is still ongoing", I mean, we all know/knew the recruitment is/wasn't finished yet, none of us needed a reminder for that.

Interpreting it as a success mail will be a sorry case of counting ones chickens before they hatch. What stopped them from making it less ambiguous? Maybe they should have even sent a blank mail...it's almost the same thing!!!!!! angry

Anyway sha...Happy New Work to Forkadict smiley and Happy New Month to everyone. kiss

Manchester City just announced Guardiola as manager, to resume in July. That's 5 months notification. NLNG, Biko do like City, even if it's 6 months notification, let someone know. My last job was with 3 months notice, I no die.

Not to derail your thread or anything, for you guys that are still in the game, how was your AC like on a personal level (stage by stage). Did you at any point have doubts or show nerves and how did you flip the switch.

Thanks

I believe showing nerves is not a bad sign. It just shows the interviewers that you really are interested in the position. Someone could benefit from this,so let me break it down a bit:

The group stage: I was the group leader (I offered myself for the role). my co group members were really smart folks. We were quite orderly and things progressed well not much nerves here.

Interview Stage: A wee bit of nerves, I mean it's NLNG! lol. Whenever I felt the nerves shooting up I smile... Believe me this helps. Also when in doubt about how to answer, doesn't hurt to ask for the question to be repeated. Another helpful hint is to pause for a wee bit, think before answering! Usually people rush off to answer and run out of steam midway.

Presentation Stage: now for this exercise I was quite nervy (by my own standards - I say this because some other person observing might say I was calm). I dealt with this by making sure I prepared making great use of time. My presentation was well outlined and this helped! I spoke quite fast though! The assessors didn't seem to mind grin .

Fact Finding: Now I believe what greatly helped me here was the answer I picked! When they started making more information available, it just seemed to buttress that the one I picked had been well analyzed.

and it helped that I had a good job to go back to smiley . So whenever I felt nerves rising I calmed myself by mentally saying "worse case scenario I go back to your job" .

Hopefully this helps... Shalom

Coolio2014 believe me if you had more insight about that fact finding task you will doubt your choice. I stuck with my choice purely because I wanted to be on time and within budget but other factors like considering the needs and preferences of the employees bamboozled me sha.

My presentation I had a Hausa guy whose accent I struggled with. I kept say "Excuse me?"

MaforBea: So I tried to shake this off but I couldn't. 2007 about 400 went for ac and about 220 were cleared and clearly passed. But they only hired about 89 or so. What was the criteria used? Fancy current job( a lot of them hired back there were kpmg, uba bank etc), man-know-man or state of origin. Now my concern is, I work I an accounting firm that is nott poular or big. I can't help but think fancy names and other factors may come into play for the final selection. Udo!

My choice validated the questions they asked though... That's why I believe that for this section there was actually a correct answer. Even with regards to the amenities, my choice favoured the option that had the highest percentage in the survey. I was grinning to myself grin . At some point they finally smiled

Well for mine like 1 was plain wrong . I don't k ow if the question was the same for all. Mine was about a company that wanted to move to a different location. First question I asked was, why do they want a new location ? Apparently it was Coz of space, the I asked what was the size of the four locations and also the size of their present location . One of the location's size was smaller than their present location. ... I just dumped that one aside , irrespective weather they had an Olympic sized pool for staff or trains that travel faster than light. It saved me time to channel my thought to the other 3 ...

It was the same for all candidates. Everyone of the locations met some criteria. None however met ALL of d criteria. The ones that met employee comfort were short of space or not readily available when needed. The ones that were readily available with sufficient space did not provide employees comfort.
Re: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by coolio2014(m): 2:45pm On Feb 02, 2016
There were wrong answers. In other words there was a right answer. There was an answer that met all the specs they wanted - at least that they asked me about.

Let me shed more light:

When they mentioned additional info that showed my option had been vacant for quite a while, I simply went perfect the more reasons why the company should pick it up pronto as it might not be for much longer and that it was even surprising that such an a good property had been vacant that long! They stopped short of chuckling.

When they mentioned that a certain percentage of workers wanted a particular facility that mine didn't have, I simply went from the survey conducted, my option had a facility that a larger percentage of staff wanted.

On and on like that... all buttress my view point that indeed there was a right answer. So if some of their questions "busted" your choice option, it means you probably didn't pick the best answer on there, but you most likely didnt pick the worst one either.

When I asked why they wanted to move, I was told because of the increasing rent, they didn't mention anything about space....perhaps they tweaked the info for different people/days maybe?

Yes very true and interesting! I think we should be mindful that one of the reasons they wanted leaving was because of increasing rent, therefore if your choice didn't meet their budget, you need some budget defence!

And I quiet agree with @airsaylongon, perhaps in any fact finding there aren't a wrong answer, your ability to prove why you stick to your choice matters most, if you have all the facts you 'think' you need, or if you still havent gotten enough facts just yet and you still claim to your choice.

Mehn!!! I tire for this matter o. It started way before mails dropped sef, I remember I spoke about it earlier after I noticed female:male ratio on my AC day was like 0.00000001 (exaggerated a bit) then someone accused me of being biased. grin Someone even said they were all guys on his own day, I just weak cry

[s]Could it be an intentional strategy to reduce the number of work hours lost to maternity leave[/s]...?? ?? ?? grin

You better get married and start having kids before you pack your loads, if not, you may be like Uncle **** who is **** years old without **** and **** fill in the gap yourself grin

Greetings to Nlng! It's not an easy one for them at all. I really appreciate that they have given us a ray of hope and as such I am ready to wait for them till they deem it fit to call us. But I still need more clarification about this 'on-going' stuff (please pardon me if I bug you guys with this issue). I would appreciate if artmedia can help. If my memory serves me right, artmedia once said that Nlng had an initial plan of absorbing 120 persons, but those that passed the AC were more than that (let's take a hypothetical number of say 300). Now my question is: was the on-going mail sent to the 300 persons? If that mail was sent these 300 persons, then I think it's either not a good enough decision or it's to our advantage. I say it's not a good enough decision cos if they really have the plan of taking 120 persons or less (obviously what we are expecting considering the situation of things), what's the point in informing an extra 180 persons that the process is on-ongoing, when you know you would not need them? Wouldn't it be better to just send them regret mails? On another note, if they had the plan of taking 120 persons and they tell extra 180 persons that the process is on-going, it could be to our advantage cos they may be contemplating increasing the slot, perhaps cos of the vision of train 7. I am just thinking. But I have a feeling that the number of those that got the 'on-going' mail is that initial number (whatever it is) from which further selection would be made and not necessarily all those that passed the AC. However it is, # I still believe in Jah's undeserved kindness.

Spot on!

Infact, it is even specified in most invites for medicals that the invite should not be mistaken to be an offer of employment.
We were the ones clamoring for some form of communication from NLNG. They have finally done that. So all we can do is wait.

The wait has just started...

Please, tell us....the wait has indeed jst started but by God's grace,it will b a worthwhile wait
