When one chooses to learn sth, it's expected that such knows WHY he wants to do such, WHAT he intends to achieve with such and HOW he wants to go about it. It's clear you have no idea. You dont learn programming cuz a friend of yours is a programmer, or cuz Jack Dorsey learnt it and became a billionaire, it's sth you learn with a mindset that you want to solve a problem, invent sth that isnt in existence, or make it a hubby. You'd do yourself a whole lot of good if you know within yourself why you want to learn java and not waiting for sb to tell ya.
You learn how to drive a car cuz its either you wanna have your own car or that you want to be a commercial driver. You wont be asking the usefulness of learning to drive a car or how to apply it to your daily needs (like taking kids to school, going to work e.t.c)

you probably havent learnt java as proposed. or you haven't learnt java to d stage you probably suppose! How can you even ask this. learn swing and some sub-advanced topics, then and only then, You will know what to use java for!!!
