The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday declared Tony Nwoye, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
 
This comes as the PDP will Thursday inaugurate a 60-member national campaign council for the Anambra governorship election.
 
The committee headed by Vice President, Namadi Sambo will be inaugurated at National Secretariat of the party.
The election comes up on November 16 gubernatorial election in Anambra State.
 
According to a bulletin from INEC, they said "following the order of the Court of Appeal (Port Harcourt Judicial Division) on Wednesday 23rd October 2013, Dr Tony Nwoye is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Anambra governor-ship election scheduled for 16th November 2013.
 
 "The Appeal Court also ordered that the judgement of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, delivered on 17th September 2013 which ordered that Nicholas Chukwujekwu Ukachukwu should be the governorship candidate for the PDP be set aside along with all the interim and interlocutory orders made there in.
 
 "The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has since complied with the order of the Court of Appeal and has replaced the name of Mr Nicholas Chukwjekwu Ukachukwu with that Tony Nwoye on its website."
 Meanwhile, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP said it has constituted a 60-man National Campaign Council for Anambra.
 
The committee is headed by the Vice President, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, while Barr. Victor Kwon, the Party's National Legal Adviser will serve as Secretary.
 
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh said "the committee is expected to work round the clock to ensure the victory of the party in the election.”
 
The statement further called on all members of the PDP to close ranks and support the party's candidate, Comrade Tony Nwoye.
