Observing the eclipse via a mirror in a bowl of coloured water (dye, ink) is relatively safe, compared to viewing it directly.
An Xray film, without images, is also relatively safe.
Viewing the eclipse with the unprotected eye can be dangerous, as the damage to the retina, even if not felt immediately, is permanent.

"..... for
avoidance of permanent blindness."

Now, this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard!!! I look at the full sun with unaided eyes (though not a good practice) yet nothing happens to me. Then I look at a partially covered sun and GO PERMANENTLY BLIND

Legendary foolishness.

Guy to look at the sun alone is different from looking at two astronomical bodies' rays interwinding. To look at the shining sun alone takes a great effort, talkless of combination of moon and sun competing. You better protect your eyes as they say. Nigerians we too like to do things without safety measures, that's not wiseness o

Is it safe to view the eclipse of the sun using ur phone camera?

During the 2006 eclipse, I used my C975 Motorola phone to take a picture of the eclipse, a permanent dark spot was burnt on the screen after that, if the phone is not expensive, use the front camera so you dont need to look up to take the picture.
