Benefits Of Wisdom (15) by SonofIssachar: 5:24am On Nov 12, 2013 |
The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of wisdom. – Proverbs 10:21 In continuation of our series on the benefits accruable from wisdom, the passage above highlights one more benefit for our meditation. The Bible says “fools die for lack of wisdom.” On the obverse side, wisdom preserves one’s life and sustains length of days. That means there are many deaths that could have resulted from folly on the part of the dying or dead individuals. Now death could also include physical death, spiritual death, death of dreams, and abortion of destiny or potential. Whichever way we may choose to look at it, death signifies an extinction of something and a final stoppage to the continued existence of an entity or endeavour. Now, God has pointed out to us, as seen in our reference scripture, that lack of wisdom is one of the phenomena that lead to untimely death. That means for us to live long and enjoy an uninterrupted run in the pursuit of our purpose, dreams and other life pursuits, we must eschew folly and embrace wisdom. How do we do that? We demonstrate wisdom or lack of it in our day-to-day choices and decision making. What we do, think or say, how we do them, where and when we do them, are reflections of wisdom or folly, and to what extent we are endowed with it. Since we desire long life and fullness of days, now we know that wisdom is an important ingredient toward achieving that. And whereas fools cut short their own days and stint because of lack of wisdom, “wisdom gives life to those who have it” (Ecclesiastes 7:12). You will succeed in Jesus Name!
