You cannot claim christianity simply because you were born into a christian family.
Just as you cannot claim to escape Gods judgement simply because you're a descendant of abraham according to the flesh.

Here's what John the baptist had to say about it:

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

It seems John also preached escape from the wrath to come . Don't let the emoticon decieve you. This wrath will come indeed. We see prophecies come to pass before our very eyes. It is because of the seriousness of this matter that we preach. Man will experience Gods wrath if he does not embrace the only way his sins can be forgiven: Jesus Christ

8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: 9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. 10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

As you can see, salvation, which is evidenced by repentance from sin is not a family matter or church matter. You cannot claim abraham or oyedepo as your father and expect to escape Gods judgement on your sin. God no dey accept inside connections. God no dey do ima mmadu.

You cannot be a christian because you were born into a christian family. You're a christian when you're saved from sin. And your life will bear witness to your claims.

So let's be christians in deed. Get saved from sin, escape the wrath to come.
