Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun yesterday said yesterday that his administration will do its best to rehabilitate federal and state roads in the state.
The governor, who lamented the state of roads across the country, said a serving minister had to jet out of the country for medical treatment after plying the Lagos/Ibadan/Sagamu/Benin road.
The governor, while presenting the 2014 budget proposal of N210.21 billion to the state House of Assembly, said he was shocked by the development.
Amosun lamented that the poor state of the road is having a negative impact on the masses.
According to the budget, N117.51 billion is for capital expenditure while N92.70 billion is for recurrent expenditure.  The focus of the 2014 budget, Amosun said is to consolidate on the progress made in the past two years in developing the state.  The education sector got the highest allocation.

useless APC noise makers always shifting blame to the FG.

Amosun should do his own part and stop worrying over an FG road project.

Are there not rural and inter-state roads in Ogun that needs his attention?

I blame the FG because I don't see why Abuja should worry itself over road networks that should be handled by the state governors.

This case brings to mind that of Niger State. All the roads linking all the main towns in Niger are Federal Roads. Even the Suleja -Minna route is designated a federal road. This is the only road linking Minna that state capital to Abuja and is used by the frogged eye governor anytime he goes running to Abuja to attend one of his nocturnal meetings with the G7.
The same situation applies for the Jeba-Mokwa Rd, Minna-Kadunna Road, Kontagora -Minna Rd, Bidda-Minna Rd which basically translates to all the interstate rds being designated as Federal roads . This is the ploy that IBB instituted to ensure that all roads within Niger State are maintained from the federal purse.

Useless governors.

A minister flown abroad for treatment after plying Lagos-Ibadan expressway. What now happens to ordinary nigerians who are trapped in traffic as a result of the bad road almost on daily basis?

u be mumu! because u no travel outta ur wretched crib, u tot all roads in the SW belomgs to the feds by sighting the Niger state's case abi?

For your lack of information and education, there is a clear distinction between the states and federal roads in lagos or Ogun state. By default, all federal roads are one-lane stup!d way!

If not for the lagos state govt who dualized or even quadrupled the federal lanes, what road of thiers is to proud of that u're sweating like a christmas goat!

In Ogun state, a standard major road is now 4lanes. The feds started fighting over a road at ijebu ode which the state want to construct to a 4lane. The feds claimed its on their plan. Its been months now, no work on the road even though they only wanna make it double!

Went through that road last month, nothing has been done by the federal government, except for the two massive flyover being constructed by Ogun state government, one at the center of Ijebu-Ode and the other crossing over Sagamu-Benin-Ore road. I wonder why the federal government stopped the state government when they know they can't construct the road. The flyover ordinary should have been constructed by the federal government> and hope the federal government won't be telling stories when those flyovers are copleted like they doing for Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge.

Was watching a programme some weeks back on AIT and a man being interviewed said all roads in Israel are constructed and maintained by their "local govts" (ps I never go Israel before) but honestly I see no reason why the fg should bother with roads when its easier for the states to handle and maintain them.
