Pandemic misfortune: Bentley cuts a quarter of employees and postpones new items

The factory of the British company will be reduced about a thousand jobs. This will allow the manufacturer to compensate for the revenue lost due to the shutdown of the conveyor.

Bentley, a luxury car company, was founded in 1919. Since 1998, it is part of the German concern Volkswagen. As part of the strategy, the British company plans to cut nearly a quarter of its workforce at the Crewe plant. Bentley noted that this decision was not easy for them, but such a step is necessary to protect the jobs of those factory workers who remain in production. The design features of the new motor also include an aluminum block, two successive tube compressors and an injection pressure of 2500 bar. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed other technical details, but the transition to in-line architecture is most likely connected with the modularity of the architecture of Ingenium engines (it allows to reduce production costs) and the convenience of installing a bulky exhaust gas purification system. For this reason, Daimler also recently returned to in-line 6-cylinder engines.
