I cannot go through a thread like this without putting in my favourite statistics, Osaze scored 9 goals in 10 years for Nigeria, Emenike has cored more goals than him in a space of one year +, Osaze was a prominent member of the squad when we failed to qualify for Germany 2006, he was a prominent member of the squad when we failed to qualify for AFCON 2012, he was a member of the squad when we flopped at Angola 2010, Ghana 2008 and South Africa 2010 world cup.

Those who see him as Messi and Ronaldo wrapped into one should chew on the above facts.

Osazee is wasteful even for cardiff, and he is going to be even more for super eagles. it is not about passion for playing, but where is his skills? is he still agile and fit to play? and presently he is not playing well.

striker9: I believe big boss just wanna satisfy some people, many has been chanting for Osaze's call up.I prefer Osaze to Ideye.
gbam.osaze is a kind of a player that can make things happen even if he doesn't play well, but there's that impact and influence he has that most pple in the team doesn't have except the likes of enyeama, onazi, mikel, moses, emenike and ameobi..,keshi has already passed ameobi for the world cup not because he can play 2well but because of the influence, the impact he has,he can make tinz happen, sumbody that will not get nervous easily,sum1 that can face big players without fear.We need osaz,he has almost that same character, did you watch the beijing olympics?thr was this impact and confidence he brought to the team, thats wat we need.i dnt trust ideye atall, osaze should come in please.we dnt av gud wingers, except victor moses,as for ahmed musa that guy is a probability,u are not sure of him, sumtimz he would be so stewpid, other times he would make sum gud show.we really need osaz in that team.

boban 007: He deserves a call up.we need to go to the world cup with our best players.we should not make same mistake we made at confederation cup.osaze is still better and more experienced than almost the super eagles squad.just that he needs to be more disciplined and I think he has learnt his lessons the hard way.
Osaze is not better than anybody in that team except Gambo and Oduamadi.
Emenike was always played on the wings at Spartak Moscow and I expect Keshi to use same formation in some of the friendly matches with Musa and Emenike occupying both wings while Moses sit just in front of Mikel as the link between the midfield and attack, then restore Ideye to his original position (top 9) with Ameobi supporting him upfront. That could help boost Ideye's confidence in front of goal whenever he plays for the national team.

if we already have up to 6 players that bring the same thing Osaze brings to the table and even more, what then is his purpose? We have enough 'experienced' players by the names you mentioned, why do we need more? Italy took an army of experienced players to the 2010 World Cup and crashed out in the group stage same as France, so what does experience have to do with this?

striker9: its obvious Keshi doesn't need him, with the likes of Ameobi and Dike that have shown there seriousness,Keshi already has a list of player that will make it to the world cup.He will only work on standby players like Ik Uche,Taiwo and Osaze,in case any of the 1st team player picks up an injury.I'm an Osaze fan,but nobody is bigger than the team, the team has been through developmental stages together and won't be very easy anyone to break into without hard work.Keshi already has his list, and I don't think Osaze can make it,its kinda late.
is balloteli not insultive?,is rooney not insultive?,but the impact these guyz av in their various team is vry clear.football is more of a mind game bro.,mourinho is an insultive man,but he doesn't win matches and trouphies because he his a vry gud coach, its his impact, influence and mind gamez that winz him trouphies.

Absolutely .. As long as he stays fit and is playing regularly for club, he should be considered

The world cup is not a joke, you need all your best players and he is one of Nigeria's best players right now!

Who did Balotelli insult?
Who did Rooney insult?
Is Odemwingie's talent up tp 1/10 of what those guys possess?
Did you know that Guardiola first sold off indisciplined players like Deco and Ronaldinho when he took over Barca despite their huge talents? How successful were Barca after then?
The great sir Alex sold the likes of Beckham, Roy Keane, Nistelrooy etc when he felt they were becoming bigger than the team, did that stop him from being successful?

What magic is Odemwingie supposed to perform at the world cup? He was there when we couldn't even qualify.
Yes, world cup is not a joke, that is why he shouldn't be there.
Re: Does Osaze Odemwingie Deserve A Call-up? by collynzo2(m): 1:29pm On Nov 30, 2013
So far he has been very poor with Cardiff, he should start banging in the goals there before we even consider him. Afterall some people see him as Messi and Ronaldo in one person.

Odemwingie is not going to represent Nigeria alone at the world cup and there are is no bloody guarantee that the current crop will perform very well!

Selection should be based on simple criteria like form, experience, fitness, willingness to give 101% minimum and being one of the best in your positions

Odemwingie is versatile .. He can play another across the forward line ... that is a plus .. He is a good winger too, better than those counts called Musa and Ideye rolled into one!

Cast sentiments aside and think outside of the box.. If he can stay fit and is in form, he should be considered ...
Re: Does Osaze Odemwingie Deserve A Call-up? by Nobody: 1:34pm On Nov 30, 2013
Nonso23: I keep saying this on and off here: The only thing preventing osaze from making it to the world cup is his ego. Nobody, I repeat, nobody currently playing the wings in the super eagles has that flair and mastery of the game like Osaze(IMO). Another thing is his experience. All big teams that will be playing in the world cup come 2014 have at least 3 or more experienced players. Mikel and Enyeama(a goalie sef) aside, no other person fits that description in our team .

Younger is not always better. As much as football is a physical game it is also psychological. Imagine the intimidation ideye will feel going up against Pepe or Ramos or Luis? or Oboabuna going up against Ronaldo or The king himself-Messi? grin

when experienced players are stocked together with young players there is a superb blend of morale(check out the Italy vs Nigeria match after pirlo came on). I believe our attack will be our saving grace come 2014 and Osaze up front will help keep our confidence against the defense monsters we have in the top footballing countries. If and only if he is ready to drop the ego rubbish and get his act back together; there is no one currently in the team that capable of competing with him for a shirt..
#epistle
this is exactly wat am sayin.

Yes he deserves a call up. Ahmed Musa and Victor Moses needs back up. The former sometimes losses some glaring chances which Odemwinge would naturally put at the back of the net.

chucky234: Though Ideye has been playing poorly for the Super Eagles but he has been a better player in Europe than Osaze, Ideye has a far better goal ratio than Osaze in Europe.
The fact that Cardiff City signed Osaze in a 5yr deal for £2.5m shows he cant compete in a bigger club like Dymamo Kiev where Ideye has been their best striker in the last 4 seasons and thats something Osaze never achieved in Belgium,France,Russia and England.
Base on current form Osaze will never make the first team of Dynamo Kiev or CSKA Moscow where Ideye and Musa plays respectively, the problems with Musa and Ideye in the national team lies with the coaches and not in the players' abilities. The coaching crew need to instill confidence in both players and help improve their games, Ideye has often been played out of position,he strive well in the number 9 role and thats the position he play at D. Kiev.
Osaze is over hyped and overrated.
Ideye hasn't spend up to 4 seasons in Dynamo.

Form = 30%
Experience = he doesn't have experience of winning any trophy for club or country like many of our present players have.
Fitness = 50%
Willingness to give 100% = 0

Did you see the 3 glaring chance he missed in a space of 10 minutes against Guinea? Those misses made sure we didn't paricipate at AFCON 2012. You guys are delusional.

so a decade of football is not enough to prove if he is good or not.if that guy will bring disunity in super eagles he better retire from international football.speaking of international retirement only okocha and okechukwu were the only Nigerian players who didnt go into forced retirement.hmm

Intimidation is induced. The moment you sight the confidence of these highly ranked players on the ball, the deafening cheers from the crowd ( even naija fans sef grin ), the placards raised in their honour, their superb records read out by the commentators all psychological classes go just evaporate instata grin . Only players that have faced this sort of footballers and their likes know how to hold their own and by so doing induce confidence in their teammates. It is pure 'crowd/pack mentality'. Did you see Ballotelli on the ball against our defenders? that's what I'm talking about.
we speak the same language
