Report from Mynd's journey to Imo State Visit to VivianC’s family I went to present money donated by Nairalanders and also extend affection, compassion, sadness and also the deep loss we all felt at the news of the demise of the death of our friend VivianC. Their home is located in the Ideato area which is 2 hours away from Owerri Imo state Nigeria. I had previously spoken to her brother and mother and intimated them of my coming to visit them. I met there other relatives of her including her aunties and uncles who were there to support the family in this trying time and some just came to pay their last respect to their dead friend and relative. The mood I met at the home was one of sadness and a deep feeling of memories of a lost friend, sister and daughter. I spoke to her family an extended our deepest regards for their daughter and explained how Vivian had gone beyond just another username but to most people, a close friend and to some, a sister. I then called the mother, father, brother and sister into their room where I presented to them the sum of one hundred thousand five hundred naira only (104,500) because it would not look right to present it to them in front of their relatives and also for security reasons. I would have loved to have done a presentation where I take pictures of the presentation but it was done inside the inner room and it was really dark there and asking them to come outside to take pictures while I hand over money to them would be considered rude, inconsiderate and insensitive in the condition I met them. the money was handed over to her mother in the presence of her father, brother and sister. Her brother signed a simple note to confirm that he received the money and he also wrote a little note to appreciate everyone who in anyway did something to make this happen. Her parents also expressed their gratitude and said a little prayer for everyone. Please find attached pictures of the acceptance note and the appreciation note 4 Likes |
