The Judiciary will soon be embroiled in this jangalization. I wonder what Nsirim will do when he gets to office or will they also force Ameachi to release funds from the Local Govt Council to him?
In our present constitution a Local Govt Chairman is just as good as a house boy to the Governor.
Since Obio/Akpor has been closed down we have had peace in Port Harcourt, no thugs harassing business owners or seizing goods from poor sellers, no agbero demanding for building permit etc. Now that they have been re-instated with out funding they will go on massive fund drive for chrismax i just pity the business owners in Obio/Akpor.

well, He has to resume duties until another court says otherwise. That's govt power. Amaechi loses. Imagine a commissioner of information openly stating a judge is biased because they lost.

Fellow Nlanders, there is also a rumour that the Gov wants to remove all de council chairmen.
He feels he's not in total control of de state.

The caretaker chairman is insisting to sit tight in office pending de appeal hearing.

The state govt has come out to state that they will abide by the decision even though they believe the court erred because a superior court is currently on the issue. The lower court claimed the chairman wasn't given a fair hearing by states assembly.
This to me is a good development. Victory to the rule of law. Another matured stance from Amaechi.

Nsirim as a thug leader in Rivers State may not be reinstated by Amaechi except if Amaechi wants to be an exception to the rule unlike PDP that has refused to reinstate Oyinlola and the CPC Katsina legislators.
The Chairman will be installed and not funded while the appeal is ongoing till the tenure of the LGA Chairmen expires.
Nigeria is operating like a jungle city where those in power interpret the rules according to how it suits them at any point in time.

The judge didn't rule in favour of Amaechi so it has become biased ruling. Sacking an elected chairman just like that.
Re: Court Reinstate Obio/akpor Council Chairman by Ngwakwe: 5:48pm On Nov 25, 2013
See grand hypocrisy. I thought the Governor said it was Rivers State House of Assembly that removed the Chairman?

Why should the Governor appeal the verdict of the lower court instead of NASS (proxy Legislative House for RSHA)?

Adola1: people should stop to compare an elected Local Govt chairman to National secretary of a party.
And in your small head, the Party secretary was appointed right? Nigerians need to suffer, they lack the attitude to do good for them, They despise Patriotism, embrace Mediocrity, and Hypocrisy, Sycophansy and Nepotism are their pride for their adored Leader whether he/she is good or not as long as some egos are furnished. It will take a very looooooooooooooooooong time for Nigeria to get it right, we are never ripe for any developmental activities because our attitude and mentality is still of the 13th century.

Why can't we? Is it not the same Nigerian Judiciary? Amaechi is a perfect example of a leader that obeys court judgement.
