The Lagos State Research and Development Council (LRDC), a Lagos State Government initiative to drive Research & Innovation in Lagos State, calls for proposals from tertiary institutions in Lagos State. In line with The Lagos State Development Plan predicated on Economic Growth, Infrastructural Development, Social Development & Security, and Sustainable Development, the research themes are listed as follows: 01. INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT: Transport, Power & Energy, Water, Housing & Urban Development, Land Use 02. SOCIAL SCIENCES, ARTS AND HUMANITIES: Education & Training, Media, Culture & The Creative Industry, Hospitality & Tourism,Urban & Regional Planning and Population Studies 03. SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY: Environmental Science, Health Delivery System, Information Communications & Technology (ICT), Agriculture and Agro-allied products 04. CROSS-CUTTING AREAS: Manufacturing, SME’s (incl The Informal Sector & Finance Eligibility & Conditions The research proposal must address an identified problem in Lagos State under the four listed research themes. Applicants must be employed by or enrolled at a tertiary institution in Lagos. Collaboration with other tertiary institutions (local or foreign) as well as industry is encouraged but the principal researcher must be resident in Nigeria. Research must be multi disciplinary, cutting across more than one discipline. Lecturers and students can apply but the principal researcher must not be below the level of a senior lecturer. Submission 01 Download the Application Form and the Research Brief on this page below. 02 Email duly completed application form with supporting documents to info@innovatelagos.com and lagosresearch@outlook.com 03 Applications must be submitted on or before 10 December, 2013 to be considered for the first batch of awards Selection Process A selected team of resource persons including academic experts and industry professionals will be constituted to shortlist the best proposals for invitation to an oral presentation. Researchers of short-listed proposals will be invited to defend their proposals before a selected panel of experts from government, academia and industry. Successful proposals will be awarded a research grant of up to N5million which shall be released to the beneficiaries in installments, on a milestone basis. Evaluation Criteria The following criteria will be applied to assess the research proposals: 1. Scientific quality (especially elaboration of research question, methods and research plan); 2. Relevance and link to the key thematic research area 3. Potential for commercialization and bankability - Scalability & Social impact 4. Originality of the proposal 5. Feasibility of the research project 6.
