A state government special announcement on rivers state television has it that the obio/akpor local government council has been dissolve by the governor Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi 3days after a high court in port harcourt reinstated the the suspended chairman of the local government Hon Timothy Nsirim. And the political situation in rivers gets messier, coupled with the governor decamping to APC.

Now this what I call Politics. Let Wike go and form his LGA on the Atlantic Ocean.

Thats the height of lawlessness...a sitting guvnor can not dissolve a local government....did he create the LG in the 1st place?

I dont know if a Governor can do that alone without a state assembly. Just asking anyway.

By doing that, Amaechi has defied the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This is a battle that will finally consume Amaechi because he has no constitutional power(s) to do that.

Obio/Akpor LGA is contained in the constitutional and needs amendment and approval by 2/3 of NASS and all States Assembly to be removed.

If its possible for a State Government to abolish and scrap a Local Government then Federal Government should as a matter of urgency merge Rivers State with Abia State with Capital at Aba.

Anyway, the Richest LGA in Nigeria is now an object of caricature by mere mortals who regard themselves above the society.
