Obasanjo: The Greatest Achieving Nigerian Leader Ever by PastorKun(m): 2:12pm On Dec 07, 2013
Cambridge University scholar of African history, John Iliffe, has this to say about Obj: ” Obasanjo having been an active opponent of apartheid and an architect of the African Union. THE MOST IMPORTANT AFRICAN LEADER OF THIS GENERATION , Obasanjo has had an extraordinarily diverse career as soldier, politician, statesman, farmer, author, political prisoner, Baptist preacher, and family patriarch. As a soldier, he secured the victory in Nigeria’s civil war” . In a nutshell , even in his life time his history is being written favorablyHe has been at fore front of African affairs. His leadership has been felt much more than in Africa continent . Obj was the leader of G77, comprising most developing countries of the world . When he was president of G77 he started the campaign for global debt relief arguing that the so call debt was another form of enslavement . Later the western world agreed to debt relief , but only to poorest countries in the world, excluding Nigeria but Obj fought on for Nigeria. Now back to Nigeria . I know those of you who don’t like the man for whatever reason , I know some just hate him because he does not belong to their political or ethnic side but that is the reality of human beings .Here is a man who met external reserve of Nigeria at $2 billion and within 8 years left it at $68 billion .Even though the price of oil , in real terms , was the lowest in the history of petroleum when he came in . A barrel of oil was sold $9 per barrel .He met external debt at $ 35 billion and left it at none .He met 200 thousand functioning fones left it at over 70 million. He met Stock Market Capitalisation @ 400bn left it 13 trillion naira...As at when he left office Nigeria stock market was best performing in d world. We know the Story today..6yrs after all the legacy destroyed. The problem is our people are ill informed a trend the youth must address. Via @ReporterTimes

Total rubbish!
Obasanjo came into power in 1999 with Nigeria producing over 4000MW of electricity, he left us producling below 2000MW despite spending billions of dollars on power generation.
That is just one example.

You must be an illiterate, when OBJ came into power he met only 1500MW capacity on ground. By the time he left we were on over 3.000 MW with 11 Power Plants with capacity totalling over 5,000 MW in various stages of completion.

Before Obasanjo came to power :

We still had oil rich Bakassi land - he gave it away !

We had a National Carrier - Nigeria Airways - he liquidised it

Currency was stronger and stable at N22 =$1 he devalued to N135=$1

Abacha was selling petrol at N14 per litre Obj hiked it N75 /litre

He stole so much billions of dollars that he could not even stop himself stealing the $16bn he hand voluntarily told us he had budgeted for Electricity. It could be assumed that he probably stole 10 times that amount that he did not declare to Nigerians.

Obj is a man who started the presidency with N20,000 to his name now owns so much land and property across Nigeria, Africa and world and flies aeroplanes around the world the same way the ordinary man catches an okada.

Has more huge luxury mansions the size of some universities in Nigeria than there are days of the week.

He has a private jet and also owns the Hilton hotel in Abuja

Fuels subsidy scam started under him

Pensions scam started under him.

Killed NICCON insurance plc in collaboration with Jimmoh Ibrahim, killed NITEL thereby leaving thounsands of Nigerians unemployed, flaggrant disobey of rule of law, high profile politicians murdered under him e.g Chief Bola Ige,Chief A.K Dikibo,Dr Marshal Harry, Engr. Funsho Williams e.t.c, wiped out a whole community in Odi. If Obasanjo can be seing as a hero today then Nigerians should apologize to Abacha's family.
