The Turkish Football Federation has summoned Ivorian internationals Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Eboue for paying homage to Nelson Mandela after a league game, news reports said on Sunday. Drogba, who plays for Turkish giants Galatasaray, removed his club shirt after a match on Friday against SB Elazigspor to reveal a T-shirt that read “Thank You Madiba”. His teammate Eboue also honoured the South African anti-apartheid hero, who died aged 95 on Thursday, with a T-shirt that said “Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela”. The federation said the two players faced disciplinary action for breaching a ban on wearing political slogans and messages on T-shirts, according to the Milliyet and Hurriyet daily newspapers. https://www.facebook.com/Airtelgroupy

sagaciousone:oscar doesn't play in turkey!!an adage goes thus "if your in rome, you behave like the romans".....as I said earlier since its not seen as offensive to any other political group & doesn't incite violence in turkey, the turkish FA could decide to wave it aside by their own discretion 1 Like |

collynzo2: Drogba and Eboue are fools. Its not about what he has done for a particular country remember the English games this weekend were also preceded by a minute of applause in celebration of Mandela’s life and his role in ending apartheid in South Africa and transforming the international profile of Africa 1 Like |

"Thank You, Madiba"? Thank you for what exactly? Some people can be really foolish sha. Mandela fought to end apartheid in his country; when the phuck did that spill over to Ivory Coast? Because of the vast media coverage that followed him, some people have become too phucking stuupid to put things in proper perspective. The man's fight was purely in support of the black people in HIS country of South Africa. While that's a good thing, I'm just curious to know when it began to mean SQUAT to the rest of Africa. I hope they recieve proper punishment. Nonsense. 1 Like |
