Platoon (1986): 4 stars out of 4. Very visceral this one compared to The Thin Red Line, though the latter had better dialogue. The film got me thinking that perhaps Willem Defoe might be one of the most underrated actors we have around. By the way, what happened to Tom Berenger's career? Dude showed some chops in this one. After all said and done, maybe I'll need to see Apocalypse Now and The Deer Hunter. Just hope the 70's cinematography doesn't put me off. |
