Your guy is spot on with that comparison. No compelling story just action and lightning. It’s an okay movie.

That's why it's 1.7bn is cooking.

So the man who played Waymond in Everything, Everywhere All at Once was the kid who played Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Wow!

Black Adam (2022)

Porncorn flick. Very enjoyable but forgettable.

Pierce Brosnan carried the movie.

The Rock failed to convince me that's he's Black Adam. All I could see was him portraying himself just like he has always done.

This movie will do relatively well but it's not a billion dollar movie.

Warner Bros is most likely ending the year as the worst performing "Big 5" studio. Sony still has more titles to release to keep it in 4th place.

At bolded....is that not an oxymoron? Finding it hard to see how one can forget what he or she very much enjoyed.

Second paragraph....is there any characteristics that "Black Adam" is supposed to have that "The Rock" failed to portray? Charisma? Charm? Brute?

Hearing they are selling some of their old movies release as NFT to attempt to make any breakaway at the end of the financial year. They are also betting on "Black Adam" making bucks at the box office, and with critics tearing it down, it's not really looking good.

'Enjoyable' and 'Forgettable' depending on the context are not mutually exclusive. Like I enjoyed 6 Underground and even laughed a few times but can't for the life of me remember the plot afterwards. Usually happens when the plot is very basic. They are called popcorn flick for a reason.

I merely dropped some of my takeaways from the movie, and if you haven't watched it, the things I said won't make sense to you.

Yeah, heard they turned LOTR: Return of The King full movie into an NFT in its fledgling "movieverse".

Even with critics tearing it down I don't see it not doing decently in the BO if it's word of mouth is solid. It's the audience reception I'm most concerned about and not even the critics.

It's Kilar's policy from the old WarnerMedia that I feel is responsible for this massive money crunch. He prioritized HBOMax at the cost of box office. The Batman for example would have made more money if people weren't so sure they'd get it on streaming 'free' after 45days.

I was entertained! It was nice to see people go wild during the post credit scene.

I hope not to see that "Amon" kid in the sequel, he didn't do it for me.

This decision still beats me. How are you allowing one of your biggest titles and one of pop culture icon, available on a volatile market like VOD after a measly 45 days??

Cinematic releases are still where the big money lies. Paramount were on about the same treatment for "Maverick" to boost Paramount+ profile and Tom Cruise was not having it and look at the magic it did for Maverick at the BO, letting it ride for as long as possible at the cinema before a VOD release.

Batman content is WB's biggest IP and it's biggest pop culture icon. Superman doesn't even come close. lipsrsealed
Jason Kilar na mumu normally. His Hulu and streaming background made him think streaming was going to keep seeing the massive rise Netflix had enjoyed over the years and thought box office was dead because of COVID. Man thought box office wouldn't recover till 2025 like many analysts predicted so he hedged his bet on HBOMax.

That 45 days release for The Batman wasn't even really painful to me as much as he did with same day and date release for GvK and Dune. Those movies easily hit $400mn despite fighting with streaming on the same day!! Imagine what they would have made even with his supposed 45 day release.
Look at Smile also, Paramount wanted to dump it on their streamer but see wonders it's doing for them at the BO for just $17mn production budget.

Man forgot he had spent massive money on new projects; that he needed BO money to recover money spent on HBOMax and upcoming films marketing. Within a space of a year and half dude would release House of The Dragon, The Batman, Succession, Black Adam, The Last of Us.

That's asides of coughing money for Dune 2 as well as marketing for DC's big movies next year, Barbie and Salem's Lot marketing.

He was too cocky and had forgotten box office was the primary source of income for WM unlike Disney and Universal that had theme parks to fall back to.
That's not even talking of the massive $90bn+ debt.

not really...popcorn movies are very forgettable...
They have no depth or anything worth remembering...
I enjoy them while watching but 5 mins after if you ask me the plot...I won't remember

I don't know much about the Black Adam character since I don't read the comics...but I know The Rock can only act the same character every movie

It's okay for a movie critic to be a hardcore Marvel fan, most of them are anyway, so I understand.

What I don't understand is...not nipping your Marvel bias in the bud when reviewing a DC film.

The worst thing about critics calling Doctor Fate a discount Doctor Strange, or Cyclone a copy of Storm is that we all know damn well that when Namor releases next month nobody will call him a copy of Aquaman.

These people should try to hide their MCU bias at least, not pour it all over a review.

I saw this yesterday on Twitter but I'm not sure if its actually a critic review cos the published article wasn't shown or the source named.
