I’m currently watching The Bridge. 18minutes short film

This is an unusual story about a young man who decided to burn a bridge and throw everyone under the bus because he thinks he’s going to get a better life abroad. Link to see the film below

Nice seeing Nigerian box office managing well despite the economic challenges.

The film wasn't really performing at the BO and Universal readily makes its films available digitally way faster than other studios.
I expected this tho.

More juice for we the consumer. grin

Brotherly, If there is one thing, i can't trust Nigerians with is data and numbers.

Cuz i have contacts in the cinema chain quoted and he steady complains about how low patronage and high cost of business is ruining their profit margin. They can barley fill a 500 cinema hall to half, on a good day. A sharp turn of how quickly movies quickly become available on VOD, has further dwindled business. I think i have told you of how my guy went to see Dune Part 2, at prime time, and he was the only one in the freaking hall.

Except they are telling me, Pop corn sales, confectionaries, drinks and what not are included in this metrics, that's the only way i will take these figures seriously cuz according to my contact, that's the main thing keeping them busy and afloat.

Short films are such a beautiful niche of films in that, the have such a little time to wow you with thier brilliance and so, it's always straight to the point.

The massage of this is well received, loved it.

There is room for improvements but you sir have rocked my day πŸ‘πŸΏβœ¨

The Fall Guy - 2/10. No wonder it performed poorly at the box office.

Yea I know there's still low cinema culture in Nigeria. Cos I told you I experienced same with Aquaman part 2 earlier this year with us being about 15 in the cinema screen. We couldn't fill a quarter of the hall sef.
But I feel Nigerian cinema goers is more of a season thing. On a normal day you'd rarely see moviegoers but on festive periods like the Easter, Xmas, New Year and the likes that's when most Nigerians patronise cinemas and unwind. So on a normal day outside those festive periods forget am.

But in the same day I experienced massive numbers, in fact hundreds of people trooping in to see "A Tribe Called Judah" and "Malaika" while waiting for Aquaman 2.
The Nigerian audience is more seasonal than a regular cinema culture I think.

On the sales part, I noticed they've lumped together popcorn & drinks and tickets together. So paying for a ticket is over 100% increment than before but you get the extra basic food and drinks included unlike before when you can just pay for only tickets at a cheaper rate.

On that website I discussed with you back then that aggregates Naija box office numbers, well according to them based on what I remember looking at, truly it was Tribe of Judah and Aquaman 2 that were the leading movies. So I don't really doubt the numbers. If you look at it closely sef, this money sef small to me. Cos on a normal day Lagos alone should generate all that money sef. And remember this stats is a for a whole 3 months (a quarter).

So it ain't really a big deal to me. Cos when you measure it in dollar terms, for a whole 3 months Naija only generated about $1.5mn for the whole industry with over 40 films. 😒

These numbers look really low for me. Furiosa looks like a $50-60mn debut in US to me. Over $100mn worldwide opening.

With the way movies are dropping fast on digital nowadays, is it worth paying 6k to watch this in the cinema?

Something that could be out for downloads before the end of July

Dune 2 and Godzilla x Kong digital versions were out in less than 2 months
