The demise of Dr. Nelson Mandela some days back has opened floodgates of encomiums in honour of the former leader and hero of the african continent. He has inspired many like me to believe and aspire for a life of greatness even if it is against the odds. Truly, his long walk to freedom isn't easy, but for a man so patriotic and selfless to a fault, i think he deserves every bit of the adulation ringing out in his honour.

Enough said about madiba, recent happenings especially that, in which Dr. Doyin Okupe opined that president Jonathan is our Mandela, brought these questions to my mind. Is he? How do we differentiate a truly deserving politician to that whose praises are being sung to repair their not too good image? Call it the power of the incumbent, you hear more of these praise-singing sessions on government owned broadcast stations and I'm not particularly their fan for that. He who pays the piper dictates the tune afterall.

In my own opinion, I think if praise has to be sung, it should be at the end of their tenure, the end they say justifies the mean. I do believe it is then when their power of influence (which I think lies mainly in their status) is relinquished that their true mark on the sand of time could be judged. That's just a man's opinion by the way, I'll love to read yours, I'm all ears.

Fake politicians will praise themselves but good ones, people praise them after their tenure or have died.

One may not presumptously know the good ones, especially when they are all decipher. They seem not fighting for the people. They are wolfs. We have too many fake politicians whose belly have filled with looting.
There is a song: "your life is a book before their eyes" The very book that illustrates the true imagine of the actor(ess) just in the case of Mandela. The reader certainly connote some attributes which serve as a book before the readers eyes. Ordinarily, no man can praise sing itself when there is no records to show. What we see these days are just syncophant. Okupe is just one, He can't defend the truth any more. This has been the major issues in Nigeria once they are being appointed, truth is gone. All what you see them do is not far reach from praise sing who has given them an office. Nevertheless, we shall know them by their fruit.

nothing lasts forever, not even power. The table will always turn, till then I think they should let the end justify the mean
