A Nigerian,
Moses Chinedu Nwosu, 50, has been sentenced to
death in a Malaysian court on Sunday for trafficking
more than 14 kilos (31 pounds) of marijuana over the
land border with Thailand, a report said.
According to the
court, there was no doubt that Nwosu, was guilty of the
crime and this was punishable with death by hanging.
Meanwhile, Nwosu’s lawyer could not be reached for
comment.
The Bernama news agency had reported that the
accused testified the drugs, carried in a black bag,
belonged to another man he was travelling with from
the Thai border to the northern Malaysian town of Alor
Setar. “However, according to a witness, Moses was
seen carrying the black bag… and its key was found in
his pocket,” the judge said.
This is just the latest in a clampdown by Malaysian
authorities on alleged foreign drug traffickers. And this,
certainly, is not the first time a Nigerian will be found in
similar circumstances in recent times. An Australian
nurse and Nigerian man were also charged with
trafficking drugs last month, a case which has attracted
media attention worldwide.

John Amaechi Eze, a 23-yr-old Nigerian student studying
at a college in Kuala, Lumpur in Malaysia has been
sentenced to death by hanging over drug trafficking.
John was found guilty of cannabis trafficking two years
ago but his sentencing took place few days ago.
According to the judge in charge of his case, the
prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable
doubt against John Amaechi Eze.
According to reports on NewStraits, in his judgment,
Judicial Commissioner Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab said the
accused claimed he was waiting to board an express bus
at a restaurant in front of the Lye Huat Garden hall when
he was arrested by police.
However, he said the court did not believe his claim that
he did not own the luggage when witnesses had testified
that he was with the luggage all the time.
After his sentencing, a blogger who lives in Malaysia by
the name of Ola shared his experience on how Nigerians
are battling to survive in Malaysia over racism and
discrimination.

SHAH ALAM: A Nigerian man was sentenced to death
by hanging by the High Court here today after being
found guilty of trafficking in 1124.10gms of
methamphetamine at the Kuala Lumpur International
Airport in Sepang, two years ago.
Anoliefo Peter Ndubuisi, 36, committed the offence at the
airport Customs inspection counter at 4pm on July 30,
2011.
Justice Noor Azian Shaari in her judgement on Friday,
said Anoliefo's defence saying that he was not aware of
the presence of the drugs inside the 13 bottles of hair
cream he was asked to carry by a friend whom he knew
for only two days, was not logical.
Deputy public prosecutor Aida Mastura Mohamed Aman
called 16 witnesses at the prosecution hearing while
counsel James George called only one witness during
the defence's trial.

yet in most western country marijuana is legal. Malaysia is backward country. why kill a man because he was in possession of a plant that was given to man free by mother nature.

^^^^^^^ different strokes for different folks..... Nigeria sentences armed robbers that didn't kill to death, while in other countries person would get a minimal sentence....... Nigerians sentence politicians to 6 months in prison, which in many cases is spent at home (ibru), yet in other countries that is life sentence....... Nigeria throws homos in jail for 14years, while in most countries they roam freely......
............................................
So you see different strokes, different folks..... Respect the laws of the land and it will respect you.... Well that's if you don't live in naija.
