Qur’an Teacher Charged With Molesting Girl
Shahid Raza Burney, Arab News

MUMBAI, 1 February 2008 — Residents of suburban Malad were aghast after an Arabic teacher affiliated with the local mosque was charged with molesting a 13-year-old Muslim girl student at her residence.

According to senior police inspector Jaywant Hargude of the Malwani police station, the police arrested Maulana Mukim Khan, 35, a teacher at the Taleem-Ul-Islam mosque in Malad, on Wednesday for allegedly molesting and threatening the girl.

The accused, inspector Hargude said, lives in the mosque and gives Arabic language lessons to children to help them read the Qur’an. He would often teach students at their homes. The victim of the alleged crime lives in MHADA colony. Police have withheld the identity of the victim and her family.

Black, Muslim and Gay

Jaheda: Still considers herself Muslim
With MPs this week pushing legislation through the Commons to create civil partnerships - gay marriages in all but name - homosexuality has never been more accepted by British society.

But what happens if you are gay and come from a cultural background where that acceptance is not available?

In a documentary for BBC Radio Four, Black, Muslim and Gay, three people describe their struggle with identity, faith and family. Islamic scholars say their faith forbids homosexuality, although approaches widely differ in how to address it.

Some regard it as a sin deserving punishment. Others regard gay men and lesbians as needing pity and spiritual guidance.

Jaheda is a 28-year-old British Asian whose family came from Bangladesh. Raised in Sheffield, she lives now in Manchester and struggled for years with how to explain to her mother that she was gay.

"When I finally told my mum that I'm the kind of woman who didn't like men - there's no word for gay in our language - she stood up, stared at the fish-tank, put on her burqa and went out of the house for about five hours," says Jaheda.

Islam allows direct communication with God and after a long personal search I decided that a heterosexual man doesn't question his identity, so why should my sexuality be an issue with God?
Rumi
"She's still convinced I'll burn in hell, but gradually she's coming round."

Jaheda rejected her strict Muslim upbringing and ran away from home when she was 17.

Making the break led her to gain the confidence to discover her identity.

But despite rejecting the culture of her family, she found British culture just as unwilling to accept.

Her first attempt to visit a lesbian bar in Manchester was at turns comical and disastrous. The bouncers could not believe that an Asian woman, dressed in a shalwar kamiz and heels, could really be gay.

Dealing with faith

G, a 40-year-old policeman struggled for years with his identity. Raised by a Nigerian father and a Jamaican mother in north London, G's experience was that of a strict west African ethos mixed combined with a strong sense of faith.

It's like there's a pile of elephant poo in the living room - everyone knows it's there but they pretend it doesn't exist
"G"
However, G says his father beat him to try and toughen him up and eventually sent him to rural Nigeria to try and make him more African.

Eight years later he returned to the UK, no less gay than the day he left - but even more lacking in confidence.

When he did come out, the reaction was hostile. His younger sister, a devout Muslim, told him he had made the wrong "choice" and then told the rest of the family.

His mother will neither discuss it or accept her son is gay and his father does not know.

"It's like there's a pile of elephant poo in the living room," says G. "Everyone knows it's there but they pretend it doesn't exist."

G has learned to deal with the rejection he has faced from his family and faith, saying they no longer hold power over him.

"The more people I tell, the more confident I become. Now it's like this unstoppable power. I am at last claiming me."

That view is shared by Jaheda who still considers herself a Muslim and sometimes turns to prayer.

"I no longer care what other people think," she says. "I love my culture and I love Islam. I'm proud of being a lesbian, or a woman who sleeps with women, or whatever else you want to call me."

A mother's acceptance

But rejection is not universal. Rumi, born into an Asian family in east Africa, remains a practicing Muslim even though he is gay.

Both he and his mother have been on a long journey of searching deep in their faith - and have come out the better for it.

"I struggled with being a Muslim as well as being a gay person," he says.

"But Islam allows direct communication with God and after a long personal search I decided that a heterosexual man doesn't question his identity, so why should my sexuality be an issue with God?

"I began to realise that what mattered to my God and my faith was the way I lived my life and interacted with the community."

That belief in actions towards others counts most is one that chimes with Rumi's mother. When she first met his partner - a practicing Catholic - she urged her son to cherish him and be faithful.

Rumi says: "My mum is remarkable she's proved that prejudice can be overcome through love. What's emerged from all my family is that love is what matters above all else."

Black, Muslim and Gay was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 at 2000 GMT on Thursday 11 November. If you missed it, you can still listen to it via the BBC Radio 4 website

Jaheda rejected her strict Muslim upbringing and ran away from home when she was 17.

Making the break led her to gain the confidence to discover her identity.

Most people of ignorance believe that the person who is born into a muslim family is automatically a muslim. This belief holds only until he or she is matured, reaching the age or puberty, continuing to practice Islam. However when such a person goes against Islam injuctions, allowing for themselves what is forbidden, and forbidden for themselves what is commanded, then they are no more muslims.

To be a muslim is not a race or ethnic identity thing, otherwise there would not have been any arab nonmuslims. It is not a family thing, otherwise, you would not have had people who left Islam, yet they are still member of their family, not rejected by any of its members. Islam is an individual thing, whereby the said individual accepts that the true God Almighty, Who calls Himself Allah is the Only God and worthy ofall worship, obedience without reservation and that Muhammad (as), is His last messenger and prophet, being the only one for all of mankind.

This simply and direct individual thing, an individual relationship with God Almighty Allah, hinges on and with Qur'an instructions and commandments and the explanation and process from Sunnah and Ahadith of Prophet Muhammad (as). Since deviant sexual behavior/relationship is prohibited, whoseever engages in any, and do not struggle to against the tendencies, and discontinues it as soon as he/she realises that it is forbidden, is going against the commandment of Allah.

Homosexuality was the reason that the People of prophet Lut (as) was wiped out. If that story is not enough for anyone to guard themselves away from that kind of tendencies and behavior, then, they deserve whatever come to them in punishment fromAllah. I love sex for example. Am passionate about beautiful women. But i do not desire more that what is permissable to me as a muslim man, and I do not lust after whoever is forbidden for me. If a person has homosexual tendency, he/she should never act on it and try hard to struggle against displaying its physical traits.

Homosexualism is the same, if it is not even worse than a wealthy Muslim in his home, who constantly buys pigmeat for his own consumptions, while he has halal meat shop all over his neighborhood. He is very wealthy, and not that he couldn't affort the meat, that is acceptable to eat in his religion, but he left it alone, and even left Jewish and christian meats, but decided to go for pigmeat. What benefit is his Salah, when he intentionally didobey the commandment of God? This is the condition of the homosexuals. It will be better for a woman or man not to have sex, but to engage in the wrong pattern of sexuality. Allah the Almighty is the Judge of all. He is also the Knower of all.

@Cool4ny; You are half correct. But a thief is a thief, even when you call him a robber or white collar criminal. This is what mazaje was saying. Amongst the sexual deviants are pastors, reverend fathers, etc. The jewish rabbis are not immune from this classification, either. I believe you get it now. Its in simple straight forward english.

The police in Niger State have arrested a 37-year-old Islamic teacher (name withheld) in Katcha Local Government Area of the state for allegedly stealing eight motorcycles.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Command, Mr. Richard Oguche, confirmed the arrest of the suspect in an interview with our correspondent in Minna, Niger State capital, on Sunday.

He said that the suspect was one of the over 75 suspects arrested at various locations in the state in recent raids of criminal spots embarked upon by the police.

According to the PPRO, during the raids, 18 motorcycles were recovered, out of which eight were stolen by the Islamic teacher.

He disclosed that the suspect had, during interrogation, confessed to the police that he commited the crime, adding that he would soon be charged to court.

He said further that among the 75 suspects was a house breaking and theft specialist, who stole items worth several thousands of naira from the house of a pastor in Bida while the pastor was in church.

He urged criminals to desist from their nefarious activities while assuring the people of the state of the determination of the police in ensuring safety of lives and properties at all times.

Oguche attributed the feat achieved by the police in crime combat and control to the high level of patronage of community policing in the state.

He urged the people to always give reasonable and reliable information promptly to the police as this would assist the police in the onerous task of crime fighting.

the use of the term "small" is simply a propaganda tool. there is nothing small about the actions of 1 billion intolerant people, majority of them pretending to be "peaceful" since they live in Western countries where the rule of law is held supreme over religious beliefs. This is however no longer news, if you've been on the religion threads long enough you'D have noticed that such censorship extends here too. I wouldnt blame RHP, no one wants to put their staff and families in the line of fire.
Calculate well. IIts more that 1.5 Billion people. And if just a billion have been intolerant, as you had suggested, you would not have been able to live in relative peace in Rochester. D'uuh! I can see that religion to you is a show, relegated to a far second class behind the rule of law, where God can be declared to be powerless. Very nonsensical, you are David.

But your RHP is in USA, and not an Islamic or muslim majority society. Is there no protection enough for them under the rule of law? Sometimes, your opinion is like that of a big time hypocrite! What are you really; a person who believes in God or some secular guy, like Huxley?

i am sorry but i expected a mature adult like you would be more objective. Was the author a christian? Did you read that it was simply a work of fiction that just happened to be centered around a central islamic figure? Ever read Dan Brown's "the Da vinci code" or seen the subsequent movie? Did you hear of christian outrage, burnt embassies, killings and threats?

The author is definitely not a muslim. Have you heard of amuslim writing a fictional article about any prophet, as if to lambast his character? Think David. Dan Brown is not a muslim, so his Da Vinci Code is not a relevant argument here. And Christians are toothless anyhow. They stand for nothing at all. No wonder they think others will do the same. You will not find such a lowlife behavior from Muslims.

As i said to ayinba1 earlier, its funny that you don't value freedom of speech and YET you live in a country that regards that as a sacred right. Why don't you move to Iran so we can all read our works of fiction in peace?

Do you value freedom of speech, David? Is there a limit to this freedom? Do you stop people when they cross the line, with your mama jokes? Is that still freedom of Speech? Like they say in America, when you question anybody's patriotizm, its like your mama jokes. People become defensive. Ask the yanks, again. And by the way why are you here and not in Vatican city? Opps, it catholic, and you are not! My bad.

hypocrites. we've challenged muslims to provide evidence too, all they've done is accuse us of bashing islam.
Aisha is at least 19 years old in the second year of Hijra. My evidence, is that she was already engaged to be married before her father entered Islam. She was between 4 and 5 by the time her father entered Islam. It was in the first year of revelations that her father became muslim, hence she and all her siblings, along with her father's wives. Then the marriage engagement was broken because of this, since the future husband and his family were pagans and refused to enter Islam.

They spend 13 years in Makka before the migration to Madina. Now prof. David, add 13 to 4 or 5. You will have 17 or 18.
Then add 2 years to 17 or 18, you will see that the lower years she could have been, in the second year of Hijra in Madina is 19! Now prove me wrong! I am waiting. You have to discontruct my argument by telling us when she was born, relatively to the year that her father became a muslim. And when in the year of revelation he bacame muslim, since we understood that the marriage wa not consumated until 2 years in Madina, after 13 years in Makka. Am waiting, David.
If i collected a dollar for every lie that muslims tell on this boards i'D be a millionaire by now. there is no biblical evidence that jews celebrated maturity at 13, there is absolutely NO evidence that christians celebrate maturity at 13. What is the meaning oc "celebrating maturity"? Do you people just invent lies to cover your glaring deficiencies as you go?
What is Bermitva, in Judaism? The celebration of the age of maturity. When do they perform this ceremony? At the age of 13! D'uuh, David! Jesus was Bermitva at 13! YOu call it baptism.
Its a work of fiction stupid!
Iknow its a work of fiction. But if I did not nip it in the bud, people like you will take it to be the reality. Its afiction like your Bible. Yet you accepted the later. Whats will not make you accept the former, except that we keep reminding you of the fallacy of the author. Thank God that RHP were smart enough that fallacy may become reality to you, and they do not want to be part of it. And SMC, am still waiting for your answers.

"SIN" as a concept does not exist in the quran or hadiths. It is simply a modern muslim plagiarism of a christian concept.

Dunub, Sayiat, both mean Sin, Wrong doing. Are you Okay, Davidylan?

@Queenisha: Re: Islam And Changing Times?
« #33 on: August 31, 2008, 04:59 AM »

Have you also noticed that the Muslim Yoruba women have the highest rate of divorce in Nigeria and the reason often cited in the divorce papers is "lack of spousal support" /abandonment.
So how could that happen if you'recapable of treating your wives equally.

Queenisha, treating women equally simply means satisfying their needs, to the optimum. Let me share something with you; a young wife who came out of ghetto, and do not know how to drive, the husband will be foolish to buy her a Mercedes Benz, while she has not even taking the test for a learner permit! The husband will even be unwise to buy her a manson when she has to be pottytrain, in a 2 bedroom apartment, first. You do not put diamond in the mouth of a pig. It will be used to till the soil, to fish out garbage. Come to think of it, you eat pig!

A wife who is from money, on th other hand can handle wealth. She will fit well in a penthouse in New York's Ritzy 5th Avenue. With a country getaway home in the Poconos and a summer home in Fort Lauderdale or Star Island. She wll know how to handle a Bentley.

Both women are satisfied by their husband, in their respective needs, socially, financially and romantically. Am sure you would have wanted me to talk so much about the romance? But I will not because I am fasting, and i know that you can get it without being written out here. Everyone of the women, has her own specific need and taste. Thats being equal. Not buying Carvier for a woman who is accustomed to hotdogs and neckbones. Dig it, lady?

Isn't it common knowledge that aisha was Mohammeds favourite wife and the other wives were often jealous of her?
If the man you tell us is your perfect example could not love his 14 abi 16 wives equally, how on earth do you think you can?

And Aisha was the youngest and the only virgin he married. She was also the one that held the greatest of scholarship/matriculations. She left us with a good wealth of Ahadith and Sunnah. She was our mother, like all of them, but a great scholar, too. And by the way, if I marry an 18 year old, at the same time, with a woman in your age group, maa, there is natural tendency that you may be preoccupied with many things, while the young wife will just be eager for the husband's attention. And please, are you like an 18 year old, still? I remember when i suggested that you should experiment with Oga's growing full beard, versus his clean shaven face appetite. You complained that you do not want to dislocate the ball and socket joint of the lower limbs and that you also have a life! Now that was something you have to reflect upon.

And by the way, the wives of the prophet (as), were jealous but not envious of Aisha. People are jealous, in a good way, but not envious, which is forbidden in Islam. Muhammad (as) treated every wife, according to her needs. Get it, babe?

« #34 on: August 31, 2008, 05:01 AM »
Please answer one simple question for me.
According to the hadiths, how old was aisha when she married Mohammed ?

Apart from th fact that ahadith can be weak, based on its statement, versus what is known of the prophet (as) good nature and the train of narration, etc, to include if it just one chain. In the case of Aisha, we must know when she was born by some landmarks. For example, we know Hijra, was not the beginning of islam, but Hijra was the beginning of islamic state and civilization.

We should therefore be able to know her true age by the major events in Makka within her family. Now, answer these questions for me;

Was she born before or after her father became a muslim?

If she was born before this revertion, how old was she?

And what year into revelation did her father became a muslim?

If she was born after the revertion, how many years had her father been muslim, before she was born?

Do you know if she was engaged to marry into another family, before her father became a muslim, the very reason the engagement was cancelled/called off?

Please tell me whe was this engagement called off, in the muslim Makka era, before Hijra?

How many years did she spend as a muslim, since she automatically became a muslim, along with her parents revertion, considering she would have to be a minor? Now tell me from the time she was born, all through the second year of Hijra, in Madina, how old do you now think she was, by the time the marriage was consumated?

I was a teenager in the Civil war years of Nigeria. Am still 30 years old. Is that possible? Is either am way older than 30 years old, or i was born long time after the war ended. Now tell me how old was Aisha, witn your clear proof!?

Turkey is not an islamic nation for one reason - it wants so desperately to join the EU. Turkey has an influential AKP (islamic party) that wants nothing more than to turn Turkey into the european equivalent of saudi arabia. The only saving grace is the relatively secular army that keeps them in check.
So a muslim country must not be located in Europe, from your supposition above? Poor scholastic argument. I guess Nigeria and Australia do not have anything in common, but unfortunately, they are both members of the commonwealth, just like canada! David, EU is a darn political organization which basis its membership solely on presence in the European contimnental theater. Nothing more. But in the case of Turkey, the Keferi Europeans inject religion into its trying to armstrung Turkey, if she wants to be admitted.

Whats right about Military obstuctionist agenda, to what the civil governance would want? Is Military not just to defend the external thread? If the US Military have been acting in the same manner as you are so happy to see the Turkish military do, would we have the Christian conservative having ay influence in America? Could Bush have been able to secure a second term? Interestingly, and this best fit Queenisha, since she is a Republican; what happened to the family value the family value that we expected Governor Sarah Palin to bring? Is it do as I say, and don't worry about my family values?

A 17 year old from conservative Christian family reveal the poor family value and her parents lack of good parentage when whn gets pregnan, while unmarried, in todays America! I wonder where she is getting all the sex; School, the boy's home, her own home under the nose of the governor or hotel motel or other places? Whereever it may be, it is foul.

For once, there are muslims who see a glaring truth . . . there is nothing but retrogression, violence and underdevelopment to be gained in turning a growing economy into an islamic fiefdorm. Why are the Turks so bent on joining a largely christian (at least in name and history) Europe?

And so many powerful nations and people and civilizations have came and their eras have passed. I can think of Egypt of the Pharaoh eras.

We've all seen islam. From Saudi arabia to Sudan, Kano, Sokoto, Gaza, Pakistan . . . my dear hypocrite Ayinba1 . . . why are you living in a christian USA rather than an islamic saudi arabia . . .?

America is not a Christian country. You liar, son of beliah. lol. I am using your lingo against you. America is a secular nation, with Christian influence. Not Christian nation with secular influence! Stop your lies, man.

@Queenisha:

But I can assure you people will answer your questions with scriptures even if they don't give you the answers you're looking for
and you won't be lashed with bulala for asking them.

Whats the benefit of giving an answer, when you know it is the wrong answer? Oh, i get it, they must keep talking, even as what they say is just hot air! lol. I miss you. Are you coming to cook thick Egusi stew for us? Get away sometimes from treating patients, in your spare time!

If I were a Muslim for instance,I would ask why Islam condemns lying and turns around and condones lying in 3 circumstances.
Let someone oppose me and I'll show those circumstances.
Infact what the heck!
one of them is that a man can lie to his wife in order to maintain marital peace (paraphrasing)
I guess it's now up to an individual or each individual sharia to define what extent he can go
How deceptive

I am not oga, but I can see that you already turn the corner and the train is still a block away? This is true. But then let me exagerate for good measure and this is not something you have let me on, so am just guessing: Is that another pregnancy or you are hiding a balloon? Is that a double chin or what? Maybe we are talking of michellin tire here or aunt Jemima or mrs buttreworth? Queenisha, if you are trying to get into that tiny little black dress, and Oga was bold enough to tell you the truth, at least about the long train bakassi, will you give him play that night? Will you be swinging from the ceiling? Will you be doing gymnastics as if you are in Olymic stadium? Now see how oga can hide the truth so that he can smile and also make you perform like a circus freak, all night.

see this http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/Quran/011-taqiyya.htm
lover as usual

I wish you are a true lover. Just talking about it, does not cut it. We see that to calm you down, it takes a jackal and a smart fox. I hope oga is that man. lol. He is my brother. I trust he will do a good job, always. Omo 9ja is known for that.

@Davidylan:

Too bad you can't comprehend simple international politics. I always maintain many of you who post here are frankly ignorant of the world around you. The AKP islamist, the ruling party in Turkey this July narrowly escaped being banned by turkey's constitutional court for charges of trying to surreptitiously expunge the secular constitution in favour of islamist laws. The threat of a coup from the relatively secular Turkish army has also held the AKP in check to a certain extent.

Try and read up on latest news, it might keep hypocrites like you from sounding stupid.

I am also very certain that if the religion right in america wants to offset the secularity of the American constitution, they will be banned just as fast! You are playing fast and loose with details, thou hypocrite! Haha. I got you, david!
Its not a matter of "at least agreeing", its common knowledge. We also know this is because Turkey can't hope to gain EU membership if it morphed into an islamic state.
You are so stucked in the EU membership gear, that you begin to sound terrible! Hello, this is just a passing phase. Other ideas better than EU membership will soon rise up, among mankind! Let kalifah be restored. You will see how toothless all your secular or christian organizations are!
Another stupid statement. America was founded by christians, based on christian principles and is largely a christian nation. Have you asked yourself why a muslim CAN NEVER expect to be voted into sensitive positions in the US? Cry all you want, the facts are bare . . . there is a reason tha t"In God we trust" is a motto of the US . . .
If Booby Jindal, a Hindu can be voted as the governor of Louisiana, and when Obama becomes the President of the USA, then be aware that a true muslim, in time will be just that! Think man.

there is also a reason that "one nation under God" is part of the US pledge of allegiance. And NO, the "God" being refered to there is NOT allah but the God of the bible.

I can't help it, but to ask you, which god; the father, the son or the nameless holy spirit? And it is a common knowledge, when they say in God we trust, there is no reference to Jesus or holy spirit! Finally, the complete statement, as the Jews will say it; In God we trust, the rest is cash! Get with the program, man.

Stay there playing the hypocrite as usual. I asked a valid question . . . why do you prefer to live in the US instead of islamic countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and co? Its funny you ask others to "see islam" when you prefer to live in a christian nation. Ever wondered why "palestinian arabs" would rather go to the US rather than Egypt, Jordan or Saudi Arabia to further their education? Are these not the same hypocrites who danced on the street and shared sweets after 9-11?
The more you "see islam" the more you make up your mind NEVER to entertain such a vile and despicable destroyer of men's souls.

I think you need a wife, David. Now one of my Lawyers, Amir Malik, is leaving the US to Madina on the 12th of this month. I ask Allah to make his stay fruitful and benefit him and his family and the Ummah. Amin. He is an American. He decided that he needed to live somewhere else to benefit his Islam. Your whining about this country is bordering on obsession.

People are now rushing to live in Japan, Malaysia, China and even India. No one of them is a Christian nation. And america is a secular nation and not a christian per se, nation. Get it?

This is the most foolish lie i ever heard. Rome is home to everyone . . . christian, muslim, athiest, catholic . . . .

Israel is also home to everyone . . . christian, muslim, athiest, catholic.

where do you get your brazen lies from? Isnt ramadan period a time to learn not to tell such despicable untruths?

You should have known that she meant that the same reason the christians and or the jews live in the other countries; Israel, Vatican Rome or Italy. You should be able to read between the lines. I know that your eagerness to win, will not let you read between the lines. You are Belial and you have already graduated from being son of belial! She meant the same reason you christian or the jew can live either (not neither) in , ! Olojooro ni e, David!

I'm sorry but this BLATANT, DESPICABLE, UNDERHAND and SHAMELESS lie just should not go unnoticed. I have decided to respond to it in more detail for the sake of gullible people here who obviously have been brainwashed by islamic lies.

Christian - Rome is predominantly a christian city though populated by catholics. There are muslims and protestants who live and worship FREELY in Rome without fear or favour.

- Israel - Similar to Rome, christians, muslims, athiests call Israel home without discrimination.

Jews - Its laughably stupid that someone in this century can claim that Jews are NOT allowed to live in Israel, their own country. Does ayinba1 live in a hole?

- Rome - If only some people made use of google before posting; Rome has an official chief Rabbi, his name is Riccardo Di Segni, an Italian Jew.

Common, is there anymore proof as to why i take statements made by clueless muslims with a pinch of salt?

You are the one who is clearly laughable, David! You should have known based on the sentence structure that she intended to write either and not neither! You are so busted. You like to win so badly that you will resort to any and all tactics. Oo ba mi nbe!

David's blog-4Him is a man of peace

Where is the peace, when you have to sell your cloak (real and tangible things) and purchase the gain, there from it ( Sword (real and tangible material for warfare)! Stop all of that nonsense, man! No, Belial. lol.

can we please stop these basal insults
Its unbefitting for educated people to talk like that, we should learn to exercise restraint whenever we are angry or hurt.
A few apologies exchanged will be in order here.
Can we please leave our mothers out of discussions that have nothing to do with them?
We should realise its not about religion but how you relate to your creator.
For me, he loves me and saved me and thats all that matters, not arguments, not debates or vituperations.
Open up your hearts to love and let the prince of peace rule in your lives.
May his peace dwell in our hearts always
amen.
