Firstly,

NO coy, I repeat, no coy will send an appointment letter by email (am thinking this is by email) styling it like they are writing a formal letter in the new WAEC.

No coy, I repeat, no coy will send such an appointment letter without addressing you by your name. Not by "Dear Candidate". Is that an indication that this mail has been sent to hundreds of people like you?

No coy will title an appointment letter with "JOB OFFER"? Isn't that just too blatant?

Lol. "From the desk of HR?" YOu gotta be kidding me? No HR manager writes like that. Much less the HR manager of ConocoPhillips. And they "wish you the very best of the season"? Really? Oh shyyt!

Letter riddled with so many mistakes. "forth batch", ""in other to", "resume application", "confirmed suitable", "confirm capable"? I just can't stop laughing. "To ensures"?

And the HR of a big coy such as Conoco will proceed to provide only 1 Helpline? Just one? Please! Do I smell someone trying to get you to call them by all means?

And the same coy will go ahead to disclose your immediate benefits in the mail? No, they don't do that!

The plot:If am thinking straight, what do they want to achieve? They name ridiculous documents required of you; certainly you won't have these documents. When you get in touch with them, they'll require that you pay a certain amount of money so they can help you get these documents in question. And that's where you may fall maga, as the Nigerian slang goes.

The solution: Just ignore the mail or better still hit the delete button. This is pure, unrefined scam.

On other note, isn't it amazing the way Nigerians cleverly go about scamming their own fellow brothers and sisters? I mean, who does that? Who the hell have we all become in this country? As if things are not hard enough. Why in the world are there people such as these, and into what more hell can Nigeria fall in? sad

Little wonder ConocoPhillips actually left Nigeria. Yea you heard right. The coy that sent you the mail has actually left the country. Oando acquired its assets recently and I'd suppose they are no longer in the business of taking care of Nigeria's oil fields.

For ConocoPhillips, it hasn’t been easy to say goodbye to its Nigerian business.

In December 2012, the U.S. energy titan struck a deal to sell its holdings in the West African country for just shy of $2 billion. The buyer: Oando Energy ResourcesOER.T +5.04%, a subsidiary of Nigeria-based Oando PLC.

Leaving Nigeria is part of Conoco’s plan to raise cash to pay for a big push to drill in U.S. shale. The Houston-based company expected to close the sale in the first half of 2013.......
