This is not about catholicism. However, the universal church has faced a lot of criticism by the protestants simply because they refuse to reason with catholics open-mindedly. The bible says, " for every high priest taken from among men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. He can have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness. Because of this he is required as for the people, so also for himself, to offer sacrifices for sins ( Heb. 5:1-3). Also, there are certain things in this world we ought to understand on the bases of faith and human experience. For instance, there was no toilet in the bible but we do have toilet today, home movies is nowhere to be found in the bible but we enjoy it today. On the last day Jesus will ask, I was hungry and you never fed me, in hospital and you never visited, naked and you never clothed me and thirsty and you didn't give me water to drink. He would go ahead to say, in-as-much as you did this to the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. Thanks! |

I don't understand. There is nothing wrong in confessing one's sins to a Pastor/Priest... Even sinners confess their sins to their co-sinners (visit a bear parlour/bar for confirmation). I guess your argument is whether a Priest/Pastor can forgive a sinner. (never) If a priest/pastor wants to claim that position, he should ask his members to nail him on a cross... |

So you actually think you can forgive a sinner his sins? my God! The sin here refers to those sins we commit against one another. The forgiveness I'm referring to has to do with the eternal.. Go to all the popes in world and let them lay hands on you.. If you still do not ASK and CONFESS your sins to GOD, and ask Jesus into your life based on your own conviction... THEN, forget about Heaven. But hey! Mr Dele your neighbor can "forgive" you if you steal his N30. |

Acidosis:You guys always amuse me, if you are talking about everyday forgiveness do you care to tell me the following 1) why was it only to the apostles and not all? 2) why did he have to breath the Holy Spirit on them before giving them the instruction. 3) why does he have to tell them he is sending them as the father sent him? If one does not have the holy spirit, can he forgive those who offend him? |
