Great Lesson.............. by olumide098(m): 1:50pm On Dec 17, 2013
THE MANDELA GREAT EXIST.ANY LESSONS LAID IN THE HEARTS OF OUR LEADERS?
In the book of Ecclesiastes 7 v 2 it says ‘’it is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting; for this is the end of all men, and the LIVING WILL LAY IT TO HEART.
The death of Mandela ought to be a big lesson to our Leaders most especially African Leaders who got to the top without paying any sacrifices in their bid to the top only for them to start personal feelings like a separate individual rather than part of the masses and stay put in power till death do them apart. Mandela’s life should be a lesson to us all that a Leader to be adored must subordinates his own family to the family of the people, he must subordinate his own individual feelings to that of the people he leads.
Those African Leaders that attended Madiba’s burial, how many of them laid the good virtues of the man in their hearts so as to be so honoured? How many of them have changed themselves before they could change their respective Country for better?
How many of our Leaders have learnt from Mandela that a ‘’leader is like a shepherd. He stays behind the flock, letting the most nimble go out ahead, whereupon the others follow, not realizing that all along they are being directed from behind’’?
How many of them can sacrifice their families for the growth of the Country they lead? You remember Mandela sacked Winnie his wife from his Cabinet on account of corruption allegation and she was eventually sentenced to 5 years in prison. We have not heard of the University he established in his name in his village or his vested interest in Multi- National Companies around the World despite his popularity.
For his death not to be in vain, nour Leaders must learn from Mandela’s life and death and how the World stood up to honour a great hero who entrenched himself in the hearts of the masses he lead.
Really there is Long Walk To Freedom. Adieu Mandela.
