The Lagos Command of the Federal Road
Safety Commission (FRSC) on Tuesday
received a Hilux van donated by Nigerian
Breweries Plc, to boost its operations in traffic
management.
The Sector Commander, Mr Chidi Nkwonta, who
received the vehicle at the FRSC’s Office at
Ojodu-Berger, said that the gesture would help
the corps to deliver its mandate to the people.
He said that the vehicle would contribute to the
safety of lives on the roads and help to reduce
road crashes.
“I appreciate the vehicles donated by the
Nigerian Breweries to the command. We will
put it into proper use for the service of our
people.
“I want to pledge on behalf of this command
that we will not disappoint you. We will do our
best to use it for the purpose for which it was
given.
“It will aid the delivery of our mandate to the
people of Lagos, in particular, and Nigeria as a
whole,” he said.
Nkwonta, who said that thevan would help in mmotorise patrol on the highways, to check speeding, added that it could also be used for quick evacuation, in case of accidents.
He urged all corporate bodies to contribute towards promoting safety on the roads.
Responding, Mr Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Adviser ,Nigerian Breweries Plc., sai dthat the gesture was part of the company’s efforts at
ensuring safety on the roads.“We pick partners who have integrity so that our partnership will become beneficial to the society and we are happy that FRSC is cooperating with our don’t
drink and drive campaign. “We know that road safety is not something we can do without and government alone cannot do it. This is our own
little way of contributing to the safety of Nigerians.
“This instrument of safety will help the FRSC to
achieve what it has promised the society,”
Ekanem said.
He urged the corps to intensify its efforts at
enhancing safety on Nigerians roads and
