The Kingmakers And The Conquered Territory: The Conspiracy And The Gang Up by jmslimx(m): 7:45am On Dec 19, 2013
The power game in Nigeria is a thing of interest; Because of the recent events, I have taken out time to replay the drama that brought us to this point in our existence. So many theories have been put forward, but I still believe somehow along the line, only the half-truths has been spoken. The truth itself is too wide that I am even scared to play its entire tape. For that, I understand and bear with the orators of the half-truths. It is complicated and sometimes confusing thereby allowing the gullible to fall into line with which ever bandwagon has the largest backlog. So many Nigerians have decided not to bother about the conspiracy that has been determining the game itself. All we do is listen and assimilate without asking why. But for how long?

It has always been about power and nothing more. It got more interesting with the discovery of oil hence the need for control. As history has placed it, the founding fathers were not so pleased to come together as one, but history tells us that it was the only condition our colonial masters had given as a pre-condition for granting a speedy independence. So like I said, I understand. Going that far may bore the reader as it has been proven that most Africans are impatient when there is too much details, but it is only in the details that we can have a clearer picture.

Recently, some British Journalist just told us of a secret document in the British archives that is marked “PLEASE DO NOT OPEN FOR 100 YEARS” it is said that this document was signed by the founding fathers of Nigeria. Only God knows what is in there, but your guess might be as good as mine. But that is not the purpose of this article as we may not have the time to keep running a riddle placed before us by our ancestors. Truth is that a few people I will call “The Power Musketeers” have a faint idea of what is in there and why it was signed. There is a section of the country that as history says, was told to see the minorities in their region as minorities for life, and to see other regions as a conquered territory. In essence, the minorities and the conquered were to be seen as such and not as leaders. So by all means, they were to be seen as such. But the game went further messy when these born leaders discovered in truth that their population was not on the bright side hence the need for a strategy. The strategy was to give the minorities in their region a sense of belonging. To be seen as one body called “ONE NORTH” With that in place, they believed they could have the required number (population) as a region even when there was the unspoken word that leadership of the region shall be controlled by the same born to rule even when those minorities are placed as heads in some significant places. But it was not still to produce the required result as at that time, hence the need for the first Conspiracy, “The Census Conspiracy” Like Henry Omoregie, a public analyst had described it during his early morning show in AIT (A television interview), He called it the mother of all corruption. It was a lie that had continued to be told by effecting many other lies. And since then, the lies has continued.

Unfortunately, the revelations of these lies first hit the rock after the coup that overthrew General Gowon in 1975. General Gowon, being not of the born-to-rule was brought forth to sit temporary for the northern interest with the impression that he was one of them, but in truth, he was brought in because the born to rule were not ready to take over the leadership mantle of the vast nation of their conquered territory due to lack of representation in that capacity. As a minority from the north being the most senior Military officer at the time from the region after the murder of General Ironsi (A general from the conquered territory), Gowon a Lt. Colonel was placed as a robot to do the biddings of the born-to-rule. This control did not last as soon as the Lieutenant Colonel turned General soon discovered the powers he had as the custodian of the entire Nation. He soon was not doing the bidding of his installers, he had to be booted out when he over stayed, hence the second conspiracy in history. But this time, they had to bring forth another stranger from the conquered territory that agreed to do their bidding by being part of the great conspiracy of keeping power in the region. General Olusegun Obasanjo from the conquered territory, and a former ally of the incumbent General Gowon was placed as an instrument for watch. He was rewarded as the next in command to the new custodian of the staff of authority General Muritala Mohammed.

Olusegun Obasanjo who was as at the time an unconfirmed Brigadier was rewarded as a second in command to his course-mate that was promoted ahead of him by Major General Gowon. Investigation into history reveals that Brigadier Muritala Mohammed was likely to be retired on Gowon’s return from the OAU meeting he attended at Ethiopia. But his ally, the General from the farms gave out his ally for the position of the second in command. That was to be the only reason that brought him into the trusted wings of the born to rule. His boss, a Hausa/Fulani from Kano state then though with ancestral links in Edo state was quick to promote him ahead of their course-mate another General from the Middle belt that was made to align with the interest of the born to rule. The entrusted oneness to the minority of the north now pronounced as MIDDLE BELT had been under suspicion. The born to rule as at then cemented their trust with the western part of their alleged conquered territory. The General from Otta was seen as a workable choice who had also become part of the entire conspiracy just to save his head and job. The General from Taraba (former Gongola State) a part of the middle belt was placed as head of the army to check, advice and deal with any of the young officers from the middle belt, the conquered territory that were suspected of not being satisfied with the new structure of the army and leadership. And in that coup and change of government, the creation of the King makers had come to be solidified. And finally, The Hausa Fulani were in absolute control of the nation’s military and leadership as it witness the rise to leadership position of the tribe called born-to-rule. 85% of all critical leadership position in that government was allocated to the north and 75% of the 85% was given to the hausa/fulani and subsequently the kanuris. It was a new dawn that was not to be dusked.

Op, thanks for the article.

But nothing is secret any more in this age. We are very much aware of these lies, and games.
