kushy: investigate. afterall, the commissioner for information came out wit a report tht d money was used to pay the IGR consultant. out 23billion generated, 11billion was used to settled TINUBU firm(igr consultant). i sorry for ogun state.

Ogun Assembly Summons Editor, Reporter Over Alleged Damaging Report

Ogun State House of Assembly has summoned the Editor and State correspondent of the Vanguard newspaper to appear before it on Monday, 23rd December over an alleged damaging report published by the paper titled: “Ogun Assembly Raised Alarm over missing N11b Revenue”.

The State correspondent of the paper, Mr. Daud Olatunji had in yesterday’s edition reported that the Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Babajide Odubanjo was queried by the Committee on Finance and Appropriation over alleged “Missing N11b Revenue”.

Raising the issue under matter of urgent importance, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Account and Anti-corruption, Hon. Abiodun Akovoyon, explained that Mr. Odubanjo took time to explain on camera that due process was followed in the transaction with the consultants.
Akovoyon who expressed dissatisfaction over the newspaper report said he was surprised how N11m transaction turned to N11b as reported by Vanguard, describing the report as misleading and total falsehood.


Others who spoke including the Deputy Speaker, Tola Banjo Majority Leader, Isreal Johnson Honourables Olayiwola Ojodu, Olusola Bankole, Samuel Solarin, Olusola Sonuga, Oludaisi Elemide, Babatunde Edunjobi and Olufemi Allen Taylor requested that the newspaper should publish a retraction and called for a probe of the report they described as malicious, misinforming and damaging.

They advised journalists in the country to always abide by the ethics of their profession by promoting decency, fairness, truth and objectivity in their reports.

Passing the resolution shortly after members took turn to speak under order (19) matter of urgent importance, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi sought for a retraction of the story within 24 hours alongside public apologies to the people and Government of the State.

He equally requested that the Chairman of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Wole Sokunbi accompany the two journalists invited by the House.

The Speaker also constituted a five-man committee headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Tola Banjo to look into all false/ damaging reports published against the Assembly. Members of the Committee include Honorables Olayiwola Ojodu, Samson Onademuren, Victor Fasanya and Aina Akinpelu.

The Consultants Were Eventually Paid N10.9m After The Deduction Of Five Percent Withholding Tax And One Percent Administrative Charge. The Auditor General‘S Report Quoted In The House Attested To The Above Stated Fact.
“We Wonder Where The Newspapers Got The N11b Commission And N21 Billion Total PAYE Tax Receipt. The Figures Are Fictitious, A Clear Misrepresentation And Inaccurate Recording Of The Events”

Thank you dear!!! You really reason well...For Christ sake it is our right... They should rather think of better means of taking the country to great heights...Rather than boring us with "I will give you water,...". (Like say we be plants (flowers) or dry bush...) Once again, it is our right to have good infrastructure...
