APGA, led by Chief Maxi Okwu, says it will not rest until Chike Obidigbo is declared as Anambra State governor-elect. Okwu who spoke to journalists shortly after the party’s stakeholders’ meeting held in Enugu over the weekend, expressed confidence that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja would by February 2014, confirm him as the national chairman of APGA. He said by an earlier judgement of an Anambra High Court on the convention that produced him, it followed that the “Chike Obidigbo, who emerged winner of our primary election is the APGA candidate, and as such the governor elect”. He added that as the party await the February judgement, “we shall continue to aggressively mobilize and canvass for members ahead of 2015 general elections”. Meanwhile, Obidigbo had approached the Anambra State Governorship and House of Assembly election tribunal sitting in Awka, urging it to declare him the duly elected governor. In a 4-paragraph relief sought by Obidigbo, he prayed that “it may be determined that the said 1st respondent Chief Willie Maduabuchi Obiano was not duly returned as having won the governorship election of Anambra State not having scored a majority valid votes cast at the election, not being a candidate at the said election. “The 1st and 2nd respondents also claim that it be determined that the 1st petitioner being the only validly nominated and sponsored candidate of APGA and having contested and won the election was duly elected as the Governor of Anambra State and ought to have been returned and should be returned as the duly elected Governor of Anambra State”. “The 1st and 2nd petitioners also pray that it be determined that the election and return of the 1st respondent is void by reason of his transgression of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended and the Nigerian constitution. “In the alternative to the above, the 2nd petitioner prays that it be determined that its candidate Dr. Chike Obidigbo was validly nominated but was unlawfully excluded by the 2nd, 3rd and 4th respondents and the election and the return of the 1st respondent be declared void”, it added. DailyPost recalls that, Mr. Willy Obiano, the APGA candidate who emerged through the primary election conducted by the Victor Umeh’s faction, has since been declared Anambra Governor-elect.

manny4life: Whether he is Obi's candidate or not is irrelevant. What matters most is that he is the most qualified candidate and Anambra has made their choice. Anambra doesn't start and end with Anaedo. Obiano is coming in with an intimidating wealth of experience. He will build on the foundation Obi has laid down and watch Anambra explode. FreeGlobe:Flip Flop how because I said if Ifeanyi did not lose his company or scam money I would have voted for him ? Well, based on the debate as well as he is a fellow Nnewian and we are family friends, I am being honest I would have voted for him according to his achievements. A successful business man in office has done more to transform Anambra state then anyone before him. If you read my past post that is my problem with Ifeanyi, he duped so many people, why would t he citizens be different. As far as the new Governor come March, I never saw him talking live and I have always been critical of his predecessor, but because they promised our delegation progress and in fact have stepped up the efforts, has shown me that we the people, do have a higher chance to work with this administration because we already have a relationship with them. I have not flip flopped, my Dear but kept it real unlike you that knows Ngige is a failed polithiefian that has never amounted to anything except one German road in his village. I will always push my Governor to do more, because we have a long way to go. That is not flip flopping my Dear, that is holding high standards! |
