Someone Said: "Does God have a body or is He a spirit?" Gen. 3:8 describes Him walking in the garden, yet the Bible says that “God is Spirit” (John 4:24). It is true that God is Spirit and that “A spirit does not have flesh and bones” (Luke 24:39). The reference to God “walking” is what is known as “anthropomorphism.” This is common in Scripture and attributes the characteristics of man to God, using words like “face” and “hand” to describe Him. For example, when the Bible says that “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good” (Prov. 15:3), it doesn’t mean God has physical eyes that are everywhere. It simply means God is omniscient; He sees everything. It also means that because He is just and holy, He will bring every work into judgment. It is because of that fact, we need His mercy. God has a body. And that body with flesh and bones is called Jesus Christ. |

With what kind of body will they come?” 1Co. 15:40 There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendour of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendour of the earthly bodies is another. There is earthly body and there is heavenly body. God obviously has heavenly body, which is quite unlike the earthly body. And God possesses Spirit. Re. 4:3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. Re. 4:5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits [Or the sevenfold Spirit] The body of God has the appearance of jasper and carnelian--rocky substances (Rock of ages). God possesses seven-fold Spirit. |
