Re: What Would You Do? If You Are The President Of Nigeria! by gabelogan(m): 11:15am On Aug 07, 2008
five positive things

1. i'll definately privatise the power sector. i'll invite foreign investors to come revamp the power sector.

2. massive infrastructural development in the niger delta area.

3. massive rehabilitation of road networks in nigeria

4. strengten anti-corruption laws and make the efcc independent so that it will be able to prosecute corrupt individuals. in essence, ill make the penalty for corruption very stiff so that it will act as a deterent.

5. open up most sectors of the economy to foreign investment. the resultant effect will be the provision of jobs, competition with the local companies, spin-off effect on price and quality of goods and services and increased revenue for the government via taxation and othe leveies.

6. increased funding for the universities and ill set up a special, independent body to monitor the way the money is utilised by these institutions.

MY 5 PLAN FOR NIGERIA,

2) Increase teachers salary by 500%( Because they remain our mentor)

3) Privatize power sector, oil exploration, health sector, road, I think all those things that will turn Nigeria around very fast

4) Introduce Charity Fund 1% of monthly income( for widows, ages, unemployed youth and creation of skill acquisition centres all over Nigeria.)

5) Compulsory prayer day, 1st day of every Month, because what Nigeria needed most is p, r, a, y, e, r

So help me God.

No wasting time talking about electricity, water, roads all all those year in year out and unending nightmares.  The first day in office, I will divide Nigeria within 30 seconds of assumption, and then I will sing to every Dick & harry: "Please to your tents OH Everybody"!!

When you get home, plan and give your people those stuff everyone crave for etc but had always remains an illusion for nearly 50 years of wasting our bloody time and let see the first/last that will achieve it and let see the reactions of their people. There will no  longer be anymore:
-quota system
-quota crime
-quota 419
-quota armed robbery
-quota police
-quota president/vice/governors and their bleached face obesed wives
-quota senate president/speaker
-quota bad roads
-quota death
-quota sports teams
-quota argument
-quota proffessors
-quota SANs
-quota traditional "my ass" rulers
-quota illiteracy infested military
-quota population census

You can add any quota I had missed out.

I would build better hospitals . .and make them centrally located without the usual crowd of patients, and scrap the private ones that are substandard. My friend died of common asthma all because the hostipals near him were substandard and couldn't treat him - and he died on his way to LUTH
Re: What Would You Do? If You Are The President Of Nigeria! by freeranger(m): 3:00pm On Aug 08, 2008
I would do everything good for the country,
Ranging from provision of good roads, portable,
water, shelter and put food on every table,

BUT COME TO THINK OF IT,
IF your fellow passengers on the seat of power,
are not cooperating,
how do you move the country foward,

ONE MAN CAN NOT DO IT ALL ALONE,

The only thing Nigeria needs is a Spiritual Rebirth,
Nothing more Nothing less,

Re: What Would You Do? If You Are The President Of Nigeria! by Frizy(m): 12:15pm On Aug 12, 2008
My plan is to make Nigeria Africa's superpower so here are my plans:

Development of Nigeria.
As a leader, my hope is to develop the nation as quickly as possible. Insha Allahu, I will get the best Engineers and Professionals to look into the development of my country. The roads I dream is to have 5 lanes going and coming on major highways for vehicles. Houses will be destroyed.

Roads/Transpath
It is important that we build state of the art roads or transpath for the people of Nigeria. An important thing is to make a rapid change not to refurish the roads but start afresh. Rails and road network will be constructed to every place that will ease commercial transportation of foods and other resources. There should be signs and roadmaps for people to see and also overhead railways for transport from the North to South and so on. This would be done by experts, I will dedicate billions into this without favour from anyone except Allah and those who love good works.

Electricity
All wires and cables will be passed underground like other developed countries. There will be adequate manpower to power to generate electricity by seizing the funds of those who embezzled at the first. And Muslims around the world can rally round to make this happen. All poles that are used now will be destroyed and condemned. Turbines and solar panels will be used to power electricity.

Agriculture
This is vital. Because of the steps the party may have taken to gain power, we will have alot of enemies. This may include US and its allies. They will not give AID to Nigeria. Therefore, I will import farming tools and machineries not for farmers to pay. But as government property for the people.Farm(arable) lands that are not in use(like Ibadan to Ogbomosho) will be used for farming. In this project, it is important that I focus on technology, how will our food be sustained even out of season? If food is readily avaliable, with transport, things will get cheaper and cheaper. Most lands unused by the government today will be used for farming and lumbering.

Housing.
Nigerians will need houses, when developing the country, a citizen has two options. To leave or stay. Therefore, camps will be made for people that are poor and uneducated or unable to have what we call a "good house". Those who are educated will have camps and will go to work for the country's development. I will destroy 80% of the houses in Nigeria, and change the people's idealogy that;"we work not for money but prosperity." My people(I saying):"If we keep from evil and endure, soon will God's help reach us".

Health
Doctors with experience will remain and keep people in good health. Hospitals will work 24hours a day with state of the art facilities. Equipment will be imported from abroad an installed. Nurses and doctors may be demoted or sent back to medical school for knowledge.

Technology
This is my area of specialization, and I hope Insha Allahu, to establish a company with my Arabian friends that is dominant on the web. Any money I make will be used for charity before coming to power. Electronics and computers must be manufactured in Nigeria, therefore I will encourage technological giant companies to come to Nigeria and exploit the nation's silicion. In return, my government must be assured that potential Nigerian engineers learn from them and make electronics cheap and affordable to everyone with quality paramount.

Legislation
Strictly shariah, we cannot compromise that. I will have the "office of consult" that look inot every vital decision as to what Muhammed the prophet laid down. If I see a modification or error then we return to our source. Christians please don't feel threathed. wink

Underlegislation
Sexual Affairs: Any caught having sex without marriage will be beaten and any having sex even married with another man's wife will be killed. No compromise.

Inheritance: According to Shariah

Murder: According to Shariah

Idolatry: Prohibited

Resource Allocation and Tax.
That is share equally and take Zakat from every well to do one, to avoid poverty. Taxes should only be taken from Non-Muslims who still wish to cling to their faith, thus would not pay Zakat.

Communication/Media
We do not condole a free media. Free in the sense of freedom broadcast of anything including but not limited to pornography, vain discourse, propaganda and disassociation from our reality.
Telecommunication companies will be founded and calling within Nigeria must be free. Satellite TV must focus only on the positive side of the nation and any media house found wanting in defying the religion of Islam will not only be banned from broadcast but also prosecuted under the maximum extent of the Islamic jurisdiation.

Employment
Young men with positive minds will be employed to work with companies but those who are known to have one form of crime or the other will be kept either in prisions or reform homes or brought to justice. No man in the Islamic Federation of Nigeria should be a terror to his brother. However, the old and elderly will retire at the age of 61 or thereabout and will be sent to religious institutions for the purpose of why Allah the Most High ask them to rememeber Him.

Government Policy
They are strictly Shariah. Nothing more or less. Christians don't feel threathen. wink

Banking/Finances
We will device a way to avoid interest rate by frustrating commerical banks that practise interest to liquidate or change its policies to the right way. Banks will monitor the funds and worth of citizens and automatically deduct Zakat fees(Muslims) or taxes for Non-Muslims. That will save the people from the fire ready to roast the hoarder.

Social Infrastructure
Facilites like street lights, water dispensers, social parks, public restrooms, running tanks in case of fire will be installed in every block such that in a street it will be readily avaliable.

The Islamic Federattion of Nigeria(After Development)
As the world moves towards development and my trustworthy chiefs plan in accordance with Allah. Nigeria will use resources like its crude oil to fund its projects. Malls will be built instead of shopping complexes and every carpenter will be sent to the newly developed universites to learn carpentry. There will be alot of mosques playing the Koran in English or other native dialects.

Everything in the country will seem new and modern, there will be change in every aspect from poorly done to highly developed. However, unlike the western world where materialism seem to be the light of the day; The Islamic Federation of Nigeria will condone no extravagances or hollywood life. I as head of the Islamic Federation will live a life only as simple as that of Muhammed or less. Vehicles that are condenmed and writeoff will be destroyed and good vehicles will be avaliable for the common citizen.

The zakat procedure will help the common citizens have a monthly or weekly income to buy what is reasonable in the Eyes of Allah. For His promise is true. Psycologically, I have spoken to Nigerians and I know how they are. I notice that the elite and the rich are the most difficult to please.

Concerning Marriage.
There will be no room for boyfriend, girlfriend in the Islamic Federation of Nigeria. If you love her, marry her in not more than 3 monthes. Failure will incur a great penalty if informed to the authorities of God's cabinet.

Concerning Theifs
Theft of the hand using weapons or intellectually will be the concern of the legislation of the Koran and Sunnah of Allah's Messenger-Muhammed.

Birth Control
Use of medical devices to stop birth rate in the Federation will incur a great wrath from Allah by His government. Use of condoms or pills to avoid pregrancy will appear as though we are modifying what His Majesty Commanded and void His puropse of Creation. Nigerians in this time neeed not worry of who will take care of children if they are married because God promises to provide by His government and wealthly Muslims.

Miltary/Weaponry
Being an African super power, it is our intention to equip soliders with the state of the art vehicles such as tanks and fighter jets. Prefarbly manufacture them within the country by engineers who are specialist in this field. It is not the countries intention to oppress neighbouring countries but to help with the spread of the message and assist to maintain stability.

Foriegn Policy and Affairs
Just like the United States of America, the Islamic Federation of Nigeria will encourage people from nationalites such as Arabia and other Muslim colonies who are not willing to cause harm to do business and become citizens.

Thanks for reading this brief statement.

Its still democracy you know, and the problem with Nigeria is very far from and sexual immorality or use of birth control pills. Infact, you just wasted your time typing garbage for us to read, there's nothing meaningful in what you just said, so I'd advise you to come up with something more constructive, And please spare us the jihad nonsence!!

This is part of the problem of nigeria, one person has a plan that doesn't suit ur status, it's gibberish. we need to sit down as a unit to discuss the areas that can cause conflict.

Now this makes sense.

Kevin the only problem I see here is the fact that people think religion’s the only way out of our problems, when I think its infact the major problem. Tell me how reconstructing people’s lifestyle’s going to make this economy better. I might not have any constructive idea, but I know a dumb one when I see it.

Frizy:

What could be more constructive? And has democracy solved Nigeria's problemsWhen people try to make your life easier, you take it otherwise.

Thats not enough reason to give up on it. I'd think that we would try to generate ideas towards ensuring a proper democracy and not scrap it entirely and have the Jihad people take over completely. Thats absolutely insane!!
Re: What Would You Do? If You Are The President Of Nigeria! by jumobi1(m): 1:36pm On Aug 13, 2008
1st thing i would do is risk my life by removing any govt official i believe is currupt or not qualified. I'll put phD and double Master graduates that are not from poor families in every senior government office. (trust me, when a poor man sees money for the first time, he won't know how to behave). I'll probably make an Igbo governor of a hausa state and a hause gov of a yoruba state and yoruba gov of hausa state to improve relations b/n Nigerians. I'll give bonuses to the governor who performs the best. this would be incentive to do good for the people.
Secondly, i'll increase the military's salary so they'll like me. (this is depending on if they don't already earn more than deserve. I'm not talkin about the colonels and Captains and those big boys)
Then, I'll have a discussion with the western leaders and ask them if they really have Nigeria's best interest @ hand. WHen they say 'Yes', then I'll ask them "isn't it better that Nigerians own the infastructures that create Nigeria's wealth? I think it is better for us to own the refineries in Nigeria. ex,  Holland owns shell. That means Nigeria contributes to Holland's wealth. This is cool on Hollands part because its the nature of business. But we'll be better off if we responsibly own and manage our infastructures,  Most of the big boys in Shell Nigeria are foreigners. We have educated Nigerians inside and outside the country that can do the job they are doing. Basically, i'll gradually put the control of production back in Nigeria's hand.
the fourth thing i'll do is reduce our dependency on oil by 50%. this would mean, increasing production of other tradable goods or reduction of oil production(1/3 of our gas is burned away anyways). Honestly, Nigeria has to prepare for the time countries we sell oil to would stop depending on oil.
I'll spend alot of money improving mass transportation, building roads, tunnels, railroad systems and ferrys because i believe that time wasted is money wasted. why spend 2 hrs on your way to work when you can slash that time into half and spend an hour at work makin money which stimulates the economy. A way to build all these things for cheap would be to use soldiers and people in prison. (A lot of Nigerian prisoners are not that bad. they are in jail because the government lets them starve. how do u graduate from university and u can't get a job? of course that'll turn u into a criminal. I'll make a deal with those who have record of good behavior in jail and make them build roads, bridges etc, for very minimal wages and them reduce their sentences upon completion. I'll hire enough foreign expertise to oversee the whole process)
I would slightly reduce the salary/benefits of Diplomats and top ranking government officials. there is no reason for them to earn as much as US officials when the avg Naija boy no dey get the same kind money as an avg American boy.
I'll also spend a lot of the countries revenue on profitable foreign investments which hopefully would bring good returns.
I'll improve education because educated children are a better future. Give kids scholarships to learn in Saudi, Qatar, US, Japan & UK so they can bring back the knowledge they gained to Naija. Japan did this in the past. Pay teachers well because when u are paid, you are happy and as a result, you perform well.
I'll also tax the rich more because they can afford to be taxed.

I think this plan would generate enuff money to give the whole Nigeria 24/7 electricity. No society can develop without electricty.
p.s, I'll most probably ban child abuse. No unnecessary beating by parents, teachers or anything unless u love jail.
I'll also ask for reparations from the west for slavery. My argument would be that slavery impeded African development because they stole the necessary resources to build a better West Africa. basically, the reparation would be to cancel African debt.

i'll be back to finish,
You guys have to vote for me.
