Spiff20:
Port harcourt city is no doubt the 3rd most developed metropolis in Nigeria after Lagos and Abuja and it's the Nigerian oil capital. The city is also listed among the world top energy cities and it is arguably the oil hub of Africa. Lots of visitors troop in to the city on daily basis ranging from foreign and local investors to tourists owing to the fact that it is regarded as Africa's top oil and gas destination. It has become imperative to list out the best cosy residential areas for people who are planning to relocate to the city either for work purposes or other personal reasons. These places are cool and serene, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and suitable for cool headed people who are allergic to noise, celebrities, expatriates, government officials etc.

1. NEW G.R.A: Most of you might think this place is for government officials alone, well you are wrong because it's not just for them alone though original it was, but as at now it isn't anymore because lots of people who are not in government own properties there and even the streets are named after them. For those of you who resides in the city you will agree with me that New G.R.A is very posh, cosy and well reserved. It could be regarded as a little town of it's own due to how large it is. It consists of G.R.A phase 1 to 5. Lots of hotels (5 and 4star) are located here, the prestigious Genesis Deluxe cinema, the PH Polo club, classy events centers, nite clubs, departmental stores, eateries are also located here. Despite all of these, it's still tranquil to reside in, though properties here are awfully steep, you have to pay through your nose to get one. Night life is common here, it's home to the popular night clubs the city boasts of (casablanca, cheers bar, PH lounge etc). The environs are neat with trees on every compound, creating the perfect ambience for nature and relaxation.

2. OLD G.R.A: Actually this place is for the high and mighty and for top government officials. But in recent times some non-government officials who are wealthy has come in to the picture and it's no longer the same again as far as you have the money you can own a property here. The environment is quiet as a grave yard that you can actually hear the sound of a pin dropped on the floor. It's also beautiful, trees form shades and boulevards are common here. It's home to the port harcourt club and numerous hotels.

3.PETER ODILI ROAD: Residents of PH would agree with me that this area is one of the fastest developing area of the city. It is part of the trans-amadi industrial district and few kilometres away from the city center. It's quite serene and beautiful suiting that cosy atmoshere you desire. Go there at night and you will appreciate it's beauty. It is gradually becoming a boom town. Located near the NLNG and Rainbow housing estate is another plus for it and in the near future it would match up with the G.R.A's if not surpassing them.

4. ADA-GEORGE/AGIP: Following the dualization of it's major road, this area sprang up to existence as one of the most sought after residential areas in the city. Not too rowdy, not too quite just at the middle it will suit any family.

5. EAGLE ISLAND: This little neighborhood lies in between the diobu river and the mgbuodohia/agip river. It's calm and placid has lots of beautiful houses close to the sea side and in close proximity with the Nigerian Agip Oil company and illaobuchi(PH Electronics village). For those of you who have a thing for island here is your place.

That's my top 5. Feel free to add yours so our visitors will have a handful of choices to make.
Hope this makes front page.
