President Goodluck
Jonathan to tread
softly on his reported
plan to force the
Governor of the Central
Bank of Nigeria (CBN),
Malam Sanusi Lamido
Sanusi, to resign,
because of the impact
such will have on the
nation’s economy.
In a statement issued
in Lagos on Thursday by
its Interim National
Publicity Secretary,
Alhaji Lai Mohammed,
the party said asking
the CBN Governor to
step down, on the basis
of a mere allegation
that he leaked the
letter he wrote to the
President, over the
unremitted $49.8 billion
oil revenue, does not
bode well for an
economy that is already
on crutches.
It warned that any
move to suspend
Sanusi and use security
forces to prevent him
from entering his office,
as reported by the
media, will even be
worse, because it will
mean that the
President is willing to
circumvent the
provision of the law
that the Governor of
the CBN can only be
removed by two-thirds
of the Senate
membership.
Not only that, APC said,
suspending Sanusi will
be a replay of the
damage that President
Jonathan did to the
judiciary when he
suspended Salami until
his retirement, and he
could easily re-enact
such scenario if, for
example, he feels that
the INEC Chairman has
offended him.
”Our worry here is that
the President should
not destroy our
institutions before he
leaves office,” the
party said.

If he had not said it, would Okonjo have gone ahead to say its only 10.8 billion dollars (unfortunately i do not want to convert it to naira) through the avaenue of trying to reconcile accounts. I wonder when APC and its e-warriors on NL will recover their brains from the dustbin. The leaked letter shouldn't be the bone of contention here, the issue is, how can the number one man when it comes to Nigeria economy be incorrect in matters of financial data. Do you foools know the negative impact it has on our foreign image? I can't even believe he is still the CBN governor

No, Mr Man. Sanusi sent the letter on Dec 4 but Obasanjo had made reference to it in his Dec 2 letter to the President. Meaning he had leaked it prior to sending the President's copy.

I really would prefer a smooth transition in our apex bank but no boss will keep Sanusi under him.

By the way, the CBN this evening refuted media reports of a forced resignation directive on the CBN governor insisting they have not been any such thing.

. we are talking a difference of close to 40billion dollars here and not naira. Note: when making your point in an argument, use facts and not hearsay or allegations. Thanks

GEJ should just dismiss that Mallam, he deliberately raised the false alarm to discredit GEJ so Aggrieved peoples Congress (APC) can use the false information to hurl insults at GEJ. For APC to come to his defence that means he works with them and it is dangerous for GEJ to work with a TRAITOR because he SLS will always want to Sabotage GEJ efforts to please APC since he now works with them.
