McCain's choice of Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska for the VP has being buzzing round the world. The issues here are the Pros and Cons of this choice. Will it make or mar McCain's presidential run?

McCain himself has criticised former president bush's choice of the then less known Dan Quale's choice when he was picked in 1988 as VP which brought embarrassments to the GOP. He has said a number of times that Obama with his little experience is not ready to be commander in chief and now he cut his own argument by putting Palin a breath away from the presidency. What experience does Palin have? A governor for 20 months in Alaska. Former city mayor of Wasila, Alaska, a city of 6500 people whose biggest worry was controlling growth rate and the biggggest civic worry is whether there will be enough snow in a year for the Iditarod dog-mushing race.

By choosing Palin, McCain intends to court Clinton's female voters and that's all. This Palin herself acknowledged in her acceptance speech by hailing Clinto's efforts in the race and making a direct appeal to her voters. The extent with which she can do this will be seen in the days and weeks ahead.

But is Mcain really serious about his bid for the presidency? Does he really think that the remainder of Clinton's voters that are yet to embrace Obama will go out to him because he picked a woman? What has happened to this Maverick senator from Arizona. This questions his judgement a lot. Age , his judgement and his health are real issues now for this most serious political decision.

If John McCain really wanted to appeal to the disenchanted democrats, he should have chosen Condoleeza Rice. That choice would have gfot him a lot of votes from the African Americans who are likely to go for Obama and as well got him votes from a lot of women who are sympathetic to Hillarry. Atleast "they will say" she is one of our own.

In national politics, Alaska is already a red state and doesnt call for much more investments of McCains's money, time and the VP slot. He should have considered the swing states or the big states with a lot of memebers of the electoral college like Ohio and Florida. McCain already appeals to conservatives and Evangelicals with his pro life stance and opposition to gay marriage. Where then is the smart move over his choice of Palin?

This election is not about women voters alone. There are a lot of issues in this election ranging from Iraq, foreign policy, economy gay marriage and abortion rights. So it is not about women alone. The issues of Afghanistan, Iran, Georgia and the threats and worries from Russia are to the issues. I cant wait for the debates to begin. We will see where McCain's judgement lies.

Barack Obama is the man to beat in this election. Mark my words! folks and democrats and all progressives all over the world. Prepare for the swearing in ceremony and the inauguration of the next 44 Barack Obama. I hope I will be there.

Reactions (Criticisms) are welcome
