@poster- If you have an option, i will advise you go for a one of the following, quest, siena, odyssey or a mitsubishi spacewagon. You get parts for those easily, and almost everywhere, unlike Ford. I knw thre are ford parts dealers somewhere around ojuelegba and in ladipo, and the mechanics for ford are few and not easy to come by. The Japanese cars are more expensive, but will pay u better in the long run. All the best

well, there are lots of opinions on ford vehicles and they are all historical conceptions that are fading quickly. not to say they are erradicated, but fading. I had a ford crown victoria and ran it past 250k miles, and it is still going. i got tired of it and sold it. at the same time, i have had a toyota that after 2 weeks of driving it brand new, the check engine light came on, so its all about who built the car and was it inspected. Ford parts to me are easy to get. they are made here in the US and we get them here faster than foreign car parts sometimes.

But one thing that i would say is this: the ford no longer produces the Ford winstar, they have gotten out of the mini-van sector and suppliers to the OEMs are only mandated to keep full stock of parts for so many years. i don't want to say exactly but i can find out how many years they are required to keep such parts.

Major problems are not exclusive to ford vehicles only, but all depending on the year of the car. newer vehicles have modules and mini computers within it which a road side mechanic today might not have the experience to handle. it take diagnostics to find out what is wrong with the car if your check engine light comes on. I have seen people spend the equivalent of $5k to fix a $300 issue.

There is a guy I have used on a Ford Explorer I had, his work shop is in Omole estate, next door to the Governor Lodge.
He’s got a couple of hand held diagnostic tools, although you would not compare him to Sienna, but as mechanics go he knows his stuff. I don’t expect he will be able to remap your ECU, he has fixed my Chevy Impala without trial and error.

References= there is a transport company that goes to Ghana and other places, If I’m right called Ground to Air, running a whole set of Chevy and Ford Econoline 18 seater buses, I have seen him do work for them.

Getting parts go online; sometimes the Nigerian credit card is looked at with some?? If so look for friend who has a UK, US or EEC sourced card, look for shops in Houston, New Jersey areas a lot more air freight companies going to Lagos for $ 4-5 Kilo. In addition some stores have discounted a/c with fedex , ups etc.

Dear all, please can someone link me with a very good vehicle silencer repairer.
A mechanic tampered with the manifold & has probably made away with the catalyst.
The sound from the gun has realy increased.
I need a good silencer repairer plzzz.

I guess those guys get a lot of money from selling the catalyst.
Mine too was removed without my consent and the guy just said he disposed of it.
